He really going to be named MVP for the 3rd straight year?

Have never seen such kind treatment to a superstar player like this...No voter fatigue for him i guess.

No question he is one of the best in the league but likely to be eliminated well before the finals start yet again. He seems to be given a different bar.

Hasn't been done since Larry Bird.(who won the championship 2 of those years) Hell even Jordan didn't win 3 times in a row.

I really with Mark Cuban would find a way to get Jokic to Dallas to team with Luka

Unstoppable duo
I doubt it.

I don't see either moving cities to be the other's "sidekick" at this point in their careers.

I am sure both would welcome the other to Dallas or Denver but can't see either going to the others team.

Neither is LeBron. ;)

Embiid dominated Jokic tonight.

Have to see some move in the MVP race after this game...

Joel was at +750 I believe...

I was the Sixers game today. It's first time I have been there since when they were so bad they offered free tickets by joining their website. They were so desperate back then that they gave tickets to people to sit behind the basket and wear crazy revolutionary outfits. They gave season tickets to this 400 pound black guy, he might have been 450 to not wear a shirt and shake his belly around. Nope, I'm not joking. I don't even know if he is alive anymore. Morbidly obese doesn't describe him. It was way beyond that. They showed him on TV several times. It's was pretty pathetic. That's how far down the organization was. They were entering their tank years.

I sat at half court in the 3rd row in upper deck. In the first half Jokic was dominating. He is an amazing passer and was giving Embiid all he could handle when Joel had the ball around the basket. Sixers were down by 15 and it looked like Denver was going to cruise to an easy win. The second half Embiid was unstoppable on both ends. When he plays like that he is the best player in the game and it ain't close. I don't trust the Sixers because when the playoffs comes this team becomes weak and ineffective. If they are able to get out of the East by beating Boston they will win the title. I just don't see a team in the West that can beat them 4 out of 7.

The problem is that even if a guy has received the award in consecutive years, and 'they' don't want to nominate him again for this reason only, we end up getting a guy who DID NOT deserve it over him

A perfect example of this is when Orlando's Dwight Howard won Defensive Player Of The Year 3 consecutive times, should have easily won it a 4th consecutive time, but voters didn't like that and instead laughingly chose Tyson Chandler

That was a complete joke

This might be the lucky year for Embiid.

I will still make the argument that Steve Nash won MVP in 05 b/c they didnt want to give it to Shaq and let someone else win it.

Nash won MVP as well in 06 but ACTUALLY deserved that one

I have always said that if voters knew that Nash would win in 06, then Shaq would have won in 05

Article from when Chandler won

LoL all the opinions came directly from the Knicks

They talked about his bright theur future was with him

How did that work out for them LoL

Also, that was around the time we began to see the disappearing act of big men/centers in the league

So Chandler didn't really "shut down" other dominant centers as they stated, because there were none

Yes and I almost included this in my post.....

We had Dwight Howard, and Duncan, who was on his way out

Both played centernhut were really lower forwards

Regardless, it was pretty much Dwight Howard who had no offensive game other than power

I haven't looked how old Chandler was when he won that award, but if he was around a while, he was getting schooled by the true big men before they got old and/or retired

But back to the main point, no way Chandler deserved it over Howard that year

Voters just got tired of him winning

Fun discussion here by the way ?
