NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 17, 2004) -- Tennessee tight end Shad Meier had an emergency appendectomy Sunday, Oct. 17, knocking him out of the Titans' game with the Houston Texans.
Meier became ill Saturday night and went to a hospital, but he wasn't diagnosed with appendicitis until early Sunday morning. He was operated on Sunday morning, a team spokesman said.
He had been the Titans' top tight end with veteran Erron Kinney now missing three straight games with a strained right calf. That left the Titans with only rookie Ben Troupe available at tight end against the Texans on an offense that leans heavily on that position.
I think maybe the one tight end threw off alot of what they had planned to do on offense. :ughhh:
