Which is fine. Just dont pretend that the NHL is even close to the NBA, which is what many hockey apologists do out of shame that the league is so ignored by the country. I like Taco Johns, I don't pretend that it's close to Taco Bell in terms of popularity though.
The NHL is just like that, Taco Johns. Quiet, obscure, niche product. Has its fan base but its just out there off in its own area. The NHL is that. I just get tired of the diehards actually trying to move the Taco Johns out of the obscure area and putting it on the block next to the Taco Bell, doesn't belong there and will never belong there. Use that analogy with hockey and just let it stay in its own little niche area where it belongs.
So basically I'm a cool guy if I watch dancing with the stars because it gets good ratings.
If I have every Justin bieber cd I'm an awesome guy because millions of other people listen to Justin bieber.
Gotcha man.
Thanks for teaching me how to be cool and awesome.
Toy Story 3 grossed TWENTY TIMES what Shawshank Redemption grossed at the box office.
Case closed.
And just imagine, all these Shawshank apologists trying to make the absurd claim that it is a better movie.
Again, missing the point. Hockey people intentionally try to say they are close to the NBA out of shame from how poor the league is received nationwide. I reference these weak ratings as a tool to keep them quiet. If the apologists would go back in there corner and not try to make constant comparisons then the issue wouldn't be brought up.
The league is what it is. Limited appeal, limited fan base, niche sport that will be at the bottom of the totem pole in any city vs a big 3 franchise unless they are abysmal like Detroit Pistons, etc.
