On Mahomes first sack last night , it was first and 10 , he got "sacked" but for no loss or gain , it then was second and 10 , Tirico said "he got back to the line of scrimmage so it's not a sack" However it has gone down as a sack , can someone explain the rule? ty

Mike Terico is not an official stat keeper
Just because he said it was 2nd and 10 does not mean it was not 2nd and 11

why don’t you look at the official play by play box score and see what that says

that’s the official record of what actually happened not what somebody on TV said live

I know it does not matter what Tirico said , and of course I looked at the play by play box score , as I stated , it was first and 10 , he supposedly was sacked , after the supposed sack it shows second and 10 , no loss on the play . Chop , you are a DICK , you always have been , go suck on one , the response you gave is the reason this forum has been dead for years ,go vote for Kamala you welfare fool

They had 2 total sacks
1 guy had a full sack
And 2 guys split 0.5 each

Sack

(7:39) (Shotgun) P.Mahomes sacked at KC 44 for 0 yards (sack split by T.Simpson and J.Madubuike).
1st & 10 at KC 44

It must of been a long 10 but not long enough for a short 11

I used to always believe that a sack had to be a tackle for loss, and maybe the rule was recently changed. However, I remember an NFL game two or three seasons ago when the play by play announcer (I believe Joe Buck) said the QB made it back to the line of scrimmage, but it would go down as a sack, and I thought that announcer was wrong, but I looked it up, and that announcer was right.

For that reason, I distinctly remember the comment by Tirico last night, and I said to myself I think he is wrong, and Tirico was wrong.

Here is how the play was scored:

(Shotgun) P.Mahomes sacked at KC 44 for 0 yards (sack split by T.Simpson and J.Madubuike).

(slapshot: It was the next play that gained 11 yards, on 2nd & 10 that resulted in a new 1st & 10.)

lol so you ask a question and I answer it and it makes me a dick .

Lol

ok

there was absolutely nothing dickish about what I said lol

You said nothing about you reading the box score

I did read the box score

I took time out of my day to look at the box score just to answer your question.

If that makes me a dick please give me my 5 mins back I spent looking up the box score on your behalf to answer your question

It says 2nd and 11 after that play

That’s why they calling it a sack because he lost a yard even though the guy on TV said it was 2nd and 10

That’s not being a dick that’s answering your question

So to not be a dick I’ll just make shit up and tell you you got fucked on your prop or your fantasy team and just not give you the real answer so you won’t be offended and I won’t come off as a dick

geezz
