If you use the word in a sports betting sense.....Patterns or regularities in the results of past sporting events or games.

Most square bettors don’t understand what to look for or how to properly test them. They tend to throw trends out there that sound more convincing and important than they really are.

I consider a trend nothing more than a winning or losing streak that has no reasoning behind it. Some people rely on trends but I find the trick is to predict when the trend will end. A trend is about what happened in the past and handicapping is about predicting what will happen in the future.

Denver is currently on an 0-3 losing streak at home. This week that trend will end. Taking the Broncos on the moneyline.

Trend is the most misunderstood word in this space.

Some trends are worthless, some aren't.

I use Bet Labs and SDQL to some up with situational spot plays. Some will call these trends which gets lumped into one bucket.

They have worked for years

On the Killer Sports discord people will come up with team specific trends - some with tiny sample sizes - and make that the reason for a bet. Pure idiocy.

I used to follow Pro Trend with 3 straight home or away games winning 1st 2 or losing 1st 2 and go against in 3rd to win or lose. Bronco's don't fit my old trend this week but do play 3 road games December 3-10-17.. Good Luck

  • useless Marc Lawrence trend
This NFL head coach is 15-4 ATS as a dog of more than 7 points, including 4-0 SUATS when his team sports a sub .250 win percentage

ok what about with current qb And current opposing qb

I'd rather bet on a team than bet on a QB......Ex Cleve last week with PJ Walker (who ?) against the most respected team in the league.......NYJ Zach Wilson against undefeated Phil......there is more to a team than a QB

Myself i never use trends like ATS trends until after i handicap the game, i then look to see if there are any trends that support who i like, if there are, i maybe feel a little better about my pick, trends only become trends because they happen a lot..lol like Georgia st yesterday on the road as a dog, away they were 15-3 ats last 18 road games now they are 16-3, they had won their last 4-5 road games, so now its 6 i mean those are trends, then you might find odd ones, like after a loss and on the road, as a fav of 3-6 points they are 3-0 ats the last 5 years, because maybe it has not happened a lot that they lose then go on the road as a favorite, so there might just be 3 examples , those i do not give a lot of credit too, unless that team was also in my system play...lol

if your not giving and importance to the trend itself, then why try to figure out when it will end???
