For those who can get action at Betfair I highly recommend betting against (laying) Guus Hiddink to become the next Chelsea manager. I'm shocked at the current odds. imo there is only a small chance he remains on after this season. I cannot envision him abandoning Russia for the World Cup. I'd especially worry for the health of Abramovich if he were to stay with Chelsea. Recent quotes from Hiddink have said as much. He has obligations to Russia. It works right now because Russia only has a couple matches in the next months. Just a couple days ago he was even talking about retiring as a football manager after the 2010 world cup. The man is 64 so its not like he is just talking bs.

Anywho currently there is good money to be had at about +120ish for him not to become permanent manager for Chelsea.

You maybe right. Actually i was hoping that if Wenger was ever to leave Arsenal and find himself at Real Madrid, i'd want Arsenal to hire Hiddink ASAP. He is a master tactician and he knows the the game well. He has done brilliantly everywhere he has been (PSV/Australia/Russia etc).

Don't forget to mention he brought South Korea to the semi finals of the World Cup, quite amazing. Anyways, seems like a great lay to me indeed as he has told the same things in the Dutch media. I have a Betfair account, but no money on there yet and I actually don't think the website is user friendly. I can hardly find what I want there.

you never know.. the guy wants to retire but he might wants to get some extra cash before he stops..age is a number look at Alex Ferguson ..it will be fun picking on each other..beside there is a lot more money in club business than international ..look at scolari fired with 12M in his pocket i bet ya that's his biggest fee he got for the short period in his job.. i think guus will get alot of love and respet from the fans, player, ibrahimovic, and the club....so i think its a dangerous bet..

Chelsea Next Manager Betting: Hiddink the early favourite after Big Phil gets the chop

Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant is the market leader for Portsmouth job after Adams is sacked in a busy 24 hours for the Premier League.
Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked by Chelsea after just 36 matches in charge - and the early betting puts Guus Hiddink as his replacement.
The other managers trading in single figures during the market's early hours include Frank Rijkaard (low of 5.1), Chelsea legend and current West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola (low of 5.8,) and former Inter boss Roberto Mancini (6.2).
Seasoned next manager market watchers will recognise some of the other 'regulars' in the betting including Sven Goran Eriksson (matched at a low of 6.0 but currently available at 16.0) and Didier Deschamps - an outsider at 23.0.
Chelsea's last two bosses are prominent in the market with Jose Mourinho trading at 15.0 and Avram Grant at 15.5.
In a busy 24 hours on the Premier League managerial merry-go-round, Portsmouth said farewell to Tony Adams following a spell that encompassed 16 games and brought two wins.
Grant is leading the market to take over at Fratton Park where he is a 3.15 shot as punters latch on to his relationship with Pompey owner, Alexandre Gaydamak, and his previous role as Technical Director there.

Alan Curbishley is his closest rival
in the betting and trades as 3.75 second-favourite.
Scolari joined Chelsea on a big contract this summer, and had won 20 of his 36 games in charge at Stamford Bridge, with 11 draws and five defeats.

only manager who can guide the chelsea ship back to glory is frank rijkaard. the chelsea core isn't good enough any more. need younger players and new style. hiddink might win a few games but nothing special will be done with this team until they clean house

For those that can use Betfair...

Lay Ancelotti to become the next manager. I have little doubt Chelsea and Abramovich approached Ancelotti and have offered a lucrative contract. However Ancelotti has repeatedly stated (as recent as after their match today) he is not going anywhere. He's settled in Milan and I believe his word. Players back him and the situation is solid.

There is money to be taken at -120ish odds for him not to become the next permanent manager. I'm baffled the odds have reached this level and imo this is great value.

Frank Rijkaard seems to make the most sense. Or maybe even Ray Wilkins!, well at 100-1.

fwiw - I have just bought back my wager on Ancelotti not to become the next manager. I really thought by now this rumor would have died down and the odds increased back up to 4/5-1. Instead more and more smoke about Ancelotti being installed and the odds remain just above even money on him becoming manager.

Report in the Telegraph today claims Ancelotti has agreed to terms. Still not entirely convinced but for betting purposes I'm removing myself from the situation.
