Newbie question...

I am looking at the screen that shows all the tables I can play at partypoker and am wondering the following:
There are a number of tables and they all have various amount of stakes. Some have $1/$2, some have $50/$100 for a Texas Hold'em game? Is that the small blind and big blind amounts?

Also, what is a sit & go table? Thanks

yeah those are blinds....sit&go are tournament style games in which the game is played until one person has all the chips

On A Lot Of Sites, The $1/$2 Means The Minimum Bet Before And After The Flop. In This Case, The Blinds Would Be $.50/$1

Sit and Go Tournaments are played by a small number of players, usually one table full (although there are some where 2-5 tables of players compete). The important thing is that the sites run them continuously. As soo as the last person sits in at the table the tourney starts. In a typical SnG, 10 players compete. You pay a fee which goes into the prize pool (say $10 each for a $100 pool) and a fee which goes to the house as their profit for running the game (say $1 each). So it costs you $11 to enteer, and it's normally abbreviated "$10+1." First place pays 50% of the pool ($50) , 2nd pays 30% and 3rd pays 20%. There should be a button to an info screen which explains the structure somewhere on the registration screen.

I think they are great exposure to no limit play for beginners because you get to play a lot of poker for a small number of dollars...and your potential loss is capped at your buy-in. No limit cash games can get very expensive for new players.
