I hate the patriots however they found a way to win and with there history they dont need to justify it. Atlanta picked the wrong team to shit the bed on period . Atlanta made no adjustments 2nd half and stopped scoring. I blame Matt Ryan he is the quarterback he is on the field he is aware of play clock and ultimately hes taking the snap. With his experience he could of said fuck you im handing it off period. I am not going to be responsible for blowing our field position and worse case kicker misses or its blocked however i will take off as much time as i can and gave bryant the chance who is the best. Would peyton manning have dropped back or would he have audibled and handed it off because he knew what was at stake and who he was against

and they're two miraculous catches from being 7-0, why did you forget about that narrative?

looks like the Patriots EXECUTED better, especially down the stretch of close games.

they were 17-2 this year, they were 16-3 ATS

Since 2003 (as far back as this site enables) https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/trends/win_trends/?range=yearly_since_2003

They have the best in the NFL, winning 36 more games then second best

They have the best record in division games, although a few teams are close to them in this one (like Indy and GB)

They have the best record in non-division games, winning 32 games more than 2nd best

They have the best record in conference games, winning 20 games more than 2nd best

They have the best record in non-conference games, winning 9 games more than 2nd best

They have the best record in playoff games, winning 9 games more than 2nd best

They've played in the most SuperBowls, They have the most SB wins by 3

They played in by far the most conference championship games

Yep, it's all about being lucky

face)(*^%

What catch prevented them from winning that 2nd superbowl vs the giants? I don't remember any spectacular catch that made the pats lose that game

Mario Manningham from the 12 yard line to the 50 with 3 minutes left, On the sidelines, no YAC.

Patriots challenged and lost

and for the record Mob, I'm not one to rewrite history, I only bring that stuff up when others starting trying to take away Patriot wins with bullshit

ah yeah I forgot about that one. The throw was more amazing than the catch, that's probably why it gets lost compared to that Tyree/ rodney harrison play. I could easily say that julio catch should have ended the game and they should have ran the ball and kicked 3 to lock it up. But, the patriots still made about 3 deflection catches in that 2nd half. Bennet had one, Edelman, and I think there might have been one more. Along with the Vic Beasley easy interception in the end zone. How does all of that go the patriots way? It wasn't just one play or one decision like past superbowls they have been in. It was a handful of opportunities that all bounced the Patriots way in the 2h. That to me isn't luck, it's fate. Even if I was on the wrong side of it.

Also the holding call that knocked them out of FG range on 3rd down on Jake Matthews. Chris Long wasn't a threat rushing the qb all year really. So why even hold? He had 4 sacks this year in a 4-3 scheme. He was never going to sack Ryan there, but jake matthews for sure made it look like a hold even though it looked like Chris Long was just falling down at first

Plus, I have seen far worse holding calls not called. Perfect example was GB/Seattle comeback in nfc champ game 2014. The touchdown Marshawn Lynch scores in that game after they got the onside kick was the biggest hold in the history of the national football league on the left tackle to free Marshawn Lynch. Three blind mice would have thrown their flags. But, I think it made for the dramatics of the game. Or just fate works in mysterious ways. It was wayyy worse than the hold against Chris Long.

watch on youtube, it wont play here.

that hold at 41 seconds my dear lord. russel okung.

On a run play, you have to call that. Wow. Nick Perry had already won the inside and was ready to make a play, where as Chris Long never won and was just falling down. Both holds, but the young pro Jake Matthews didn't need to hold.
