Of all the bad decisions by the Bush administration (and this one is quickly approaching infinity) IMO Ashcroft was the absolutely worst.

He is the most anti-American leader that I have ever seen. Granted, I didn't live through the McCarthy era, but still.

Historical hindsight will likely show that John Ashcroft's religious zealotry was the primary reason why voters turned against GW Bush in the 2004 election cycle.

Anytime you take actions based on your belief that 72 virgins will await you in heaven, or that Jesus will come down with his fiery sword on his fiery chariot to take you up to heaven, you are fukking insane and rational thinkers will run like hell.
