Which team has the advantage. Lets all chime in on this game just like the Portugal vs Germany thread.

I really am looking forward to this game. I feel that the Dutch will take this game from start to finish. I hope to win some of my money back from todays Portugal game by taking Netherland to advance.

-245 for Netherland to advance to Semis. This line is from Pinny. I'm wondering if I should wait or take this line now.

Holland is the real deal here.Hidink knows them very well and Russia plays the one touch as the dutch do at time, however the original thing is way better doing so imo, these two have met last year in a friendly, yeah i know ,friendly means nothing but then again Netherland scored 4 and Russia 1.Holland for me all the way in this one..imo this one will be the easier bet out of the 4 games in that stage.

Are you taking them to advance at -245 or are you taking them at ML for -139?

I feel Netherland wins this game as well. However thats what I said about the Portugal game and they lost.

Yeah,my heart today was with Potugal, but when someone offers Germany as underdogs i never underestimate them,i thought they would qualify in extra time or PK,didn't imagine Portugal defense would be so crappy. As far as Holland goes,ML for me,don't think they would need more than 90 mins, even Russia has their straikers back we know their defense suck big time and Holland will put that for a good use imo :toast:

Btw where in Toronto are you..here used to be in North York for long time.

The more vote for Russia the more confident i am about Holland.Portugal today was another example where the majority was in agreement and misread the map right,so despite being confident over the Dutch, seeing more votes for Russia is a good sign Holland
will get this one after all..LOL

I'm in the Markham / Richmondhill 905 area. I want to take them ML but just worried if it does go down to extra time or shootout and then they win then I would of lucked out. I guess I will decide tomorrow if it will be ML or to advance for me. Holland has way to many threats and they love to counter attack.

No worries ,split your bet then so you can't lose if it does go to over time
However pesonally i am confident about Holland ability to win this one in 90 and if i can find Holland -1 AH i will grab that as well, thats how much convicned and confident i am Holland will win by more than one.maybe i am wrong but to me this one is the banker of that stage and Holland has proven here ,they can open any defense pretty easy playing some of the better ones here so far and Russian defense is really nervous and poor if comparing them to Romania/Italy and France.the irony would be everyone predict festival of goals here perhaps by both sides and it end with possibly 1 goal only..but i will take my chances and back Holland all the way.

I see 3-0 in the cards. IMO Russians have no shot in this game. They are not organized enough to keep the lead or to prevent the dutch from scoring.

A strong play is over 2.5. Both are very good counter attacking teams, and as soon as a goal is scored, then we have a goalfest (IMO only one direction dutch scoring). Normally you would be scared off by a late score, but I really don't have ANY confidence in this Russian defense. Dutch where able to score against argueable the 3 BEST defensive teams coming into this tournment.

I wouldn't call France or Italy one of the three best defensive teams. The Swiss are probably one of the best defensively and Greece is better defensively too. Italy and France have both been sloppy and unimpressive in all of their games, so beating them doesn't impress me.

Russia dominated both Greece and Sweden, and were only outplayed by arguably the top team in the tournament in Spain.

I'm not saying Russia wins, but I do think they have a good chance of doing so.

You know Russia barely made it into here, losing to Israel 2-1 in that group and only Croetia win in Wembley is what helped Hiddink arrive here with patheic win vs Andora 1-0 in their final game.
True that he Brought the Dutch style of playing into the Russian team and at times they seem to adopt and do it pretty well, but then again they beat two teams with poor front and even in these two games their back part showd how fragile it is and nervous, the Russian GK drops many balls he shouldn't and in the only real test vs a team with front tools coming close to what the Dutch have today in their arsenal they concede 4 goals,so i am not sure they can afford really play as they did vs Sweden and Greece today ,coz if they do it will cost them big time, either way whether they play it close or open the Dutch have enough depth to finish this without any problems..Spain scored 4 and Holland did the same last year vs the Russian in friendly match winning 4-1.
As far as to over here, seems as the play but then after yesterday game this one might also turn under with 2-0 for Holland ..i prefer the sides here and the AH over the total.

I may be way off on this, as I have lost my arse the last few days. However, I see this as much more similar to the Spain game for Russia. Russia has a dodgy D and defensive midfield and were torn open by the slick passing, attacking Spainairds. NED style of play is similar to that of Spain and they have plenty of offensive midfielder and attackers, just like Spain. While yes, Russia didn't have Arshavin in that game, he won't remedy any defensive woes.

Sweden and Greece are two of the worst sides in Euro, probably only better than the Austrians at the end of the day and I'm not sure the Greeks are better. Both defensives are old and slow and the Greek D isn't what it was 4 years ago. This is a team that didn't even qualify for WC and qualified (admittedly easily) out of the worst qualifying group.

I see this similar to the Spain/Russia game with Russia's D getting opened up in a lot of "one way traffic". So, fade away.

I am all over Holland today... They have been playing great soccer leading up to the tournament and have been the best team in Euro so far... but what do I know, upsets seem to be getting it done in the round of 8.

There is no way Russia wins this. Just because they dominated the Swedes doesnt mean they will do the same to the Dutch. The Turky upset was enough for the quarterfinals.

In one sense I agree. On the other hand, I don't think Holland have played a single good passing team, and more importantly one that possesses a true playmaker and plenty of width. France were absolutely horrendous and the system and personnel provided no width or creativity yet they still caused problems in the 2nd half. Italy waited until too late in the game to bring on Del Piero and Cassano, who along with Pirlo were the only ones to have any creativity. They also started the match very defensively and the fullbacks weren't pushing up.

Combine Arshavin's vision and dribbling ability with the excellent movement of the striker Pavyluchenko, along with the incredible width provided by the fullbacks, and we may finally see Holland face a few problems. I believe Holland have played some great stuff but their scorelines have been extremely flattering. They've yet to be truly tested in defence, they've yet to concede first, and therefore we have yet to see them actually have to really force players forward other than on the counterattack.

I hope for an interesting match, and I really hope Hiddink can ensure that Russia keep playing that pressing, and attacking game.
