In a 12 team league (been with for 10 years) I'm in with friends (for money), the commissioner dropped Steve Slaton this week and picked up Willis McGahee. On his roster he also has Beanie Wells, Cadillac Williams and Portis.
First of all, Slanton has had two bad games but they were against two real tough run defenses, the Jets and Titans.
Second, I don't think you should just drop your 1st round pick after two weeks, even if it's for McGahee. I would have dropped Beanie Wells first and kept Slaton. But I think he's stupid.
Thirdly, in the CBS.Sportsline.com website where the league is hosted, I can see that Slaton has been traded one for one or in a package deal in a ton of leagues throughout the site. So dropping him flat out seems stupid, fishy, or just both.
Fourthly, I find this a bit unfair because then it seems like owners could just drop their 1st, 2nd, 3rd round picks if they're 0-2, 0-3, 0-4, etc and have given up on the season. I don't think anyone would do that in this league but the possibility is there.
Slanton was picked up on waivers by his brother. Of course I saw Slanton was released on Wednesday (first day of waivers) so i tried to pick him up. But since his brother was first on the waiver wire again on Friday morning, he got him.
What do you guys think?
I put out an email to the league. His brother wrote back with some sarcastic remark but then said if people voted it was wrong, it should be reversed.
The commish put out some stupid, lame ass, sorry attempt at humor type press release. So he seems to not be taking it seriously. No one else has replied.
