My buddy who does this for a living suggests Beckett, although PSA is not a bad option

Says you want to make sure the card is worth it, at least an 8

Says you need to look at the card, check out the edges which have to be smooth. Make sure the card is centered and there are a couple of other important variables

Make sure you use BGS
Beckett has a secondary service they call Beckett but it’s not the same as the BGS Beckett

I deal in hockey cards and my preference is Beckett. I got a Gretzky getting graded right now with Beckett. Hoping for a 7

If that's the case than use Becket. Problem with Becket is that is virtually impossible to get a 10 pristine rating. But if you do, watch out, you will retire and the card will easily be worth over a million. However PSA 10 which is easier to get than a Becket ten, will get you more money than a Becket 9.5. That's why the general "rule" is use PSA for older cards and Becket for newer.

That’s not really true

A BGS 9.5 is more valuable then a PSA 10 anyway so who cares if you only get a 9.5 BGS

A BGS 9 is probably equal to or greater then a PSA 10 .
So go BGS

But don’t get all excited .

The odds of you having a 9.5 BGS or a 10 PSA are probably less then winning the lottery .

Even if the card looks perfect to you it could still be just a 7 .

They grade the cards on things you can’t even see wirh the human eye.

And there are politics involved

Everytime a Jordan rookie gets graded a 10 the value of all the other Jordan rookie cards go down in value .

There is a lot of politics and crazy things that go on behind the scenes on high end cards like Jordan’s

Incorrect. Here's the listings of the actual card in question. The 9.5 are asking in the 120 to 140K range and PSA 10 already has confirmed bids at 271K with five days left!

PSA is usually 5% of the single cards value on the lower end, and the percentage varies on the higher end card. For example if a Wilson PSA 9 is worth 400, expect to pay around 20 bucks for the grading. Now there are various offers all well or deals, such as multiple cards, membership etc etc. Also the time it takes for your card to be returned also affects the price. If you wanted it graded quickly and returned quickly you will pay a premium.

Grading is imo garbage. At the Sportscard Expo, someone had a McDavid Beckett Raw grade 9. He broke the seal and got it graded again This time it came back as a Raw grade 10.

There's no denying that it is subjective to a certain degree. However there's no denying that a graded card has way more value than an ungraded card!! And it's not even close!
