sounds real solid to me, sort of a family deal:

it's a 1993 Dodge Dakota with ( Automatic, 8 cylinder) 38k miles for $1500, not crashed or anything, I might buy it myself, at that price, consider it to be what a 14 year old truck should look like. I haven't seen it.

What is an older vehichle with ultra low mileage worth ? I'm not the buyer, more like my future stepson in law buying in from his sister-in law, or something like that... I get confused that way. The seller is a car dealer, the buyer is her brother in law... I believe that's correct.

Now these people tell me I'll offer her $1100, I think it's a steal at $1500, the dealer chick ain't gonna take no $1100, c'mon ! :puppy:

these don't get found too often.

give me opinion, assume average cosmetics for age, but the low mileage.

:103631605 The story behind the truck is a variation of the little old lady that only drove to church on Sun, here the guy drove .5 miles to work at the liqour store !

Nobody give me an opinion on this ? I might buy it for $1500 from this sorta almost kinda family girl dealer, ( that I met yesterday) if my maybe future step-something or whatever marries my step-daughter....

Low mileage is not always a good thing. I can't explain why, but that's what I have heard. Aside from that, I wouldn't want any early nineties Dodge in my driveway. The repair bills will excede the cost of the vehicle in two years.

Doug, it is only $1500! I dont think that $400 is that big of a deal for you. Just pay her the $1500

I don't want the vehicle, not even looking for a vehicle, just bought a new 07 CRV for the wife. I don't even have a car of my own ( never leave the house). Step daughter's BF needs it, guess he wants cheap <3k or so, for that money I'd consider old with low mileage. His sister in law is the dealer that has this unusual vehicle available. I'm not afraid of mileage have bought Toyotas from the 70's with over 200k miles on them. I probably don't buy it anyway, don't really need it, would have to check insurance price, the $1500 itself is no biggie, I like a beater that you can use to push the shopping cart out of your space without even slowing down.

My green 77 toyota truck (heavy body damage) was a classic, over 200k miles, camper shell, $200. I think I put 50k miles on it, barely changing the oil, ugliest thing ever, great work truck, wish I had a pic of it.

My last truck was a 93 F-150 bought around 1998 with about 100k miles , paid nearly 5k for it, you can't buy shit for $1500, I'd consider buying it just to have a beater truck to drive to the package store , and back!

Had a 1992 Dakota, transmissions are a problem on the auto dakota's of that range, mine went at 35 and 61k miles..still @ 1500 price is fairly good. At a certain age, mileage of a vehicle is no longer a factor imho, parts will detoriate with age as well as mileage, and 15 year old parts are bound to fail. I would say miles adds $250-400 tops to this truck, and a 1993 dakota 4x4 probably would sell between 1100 - 1500 depending on the area you are in. @ 1500 the price is probably worth the risk if you need a truck, but I would be expecting some future repairs in the next 2 years that could easily match that amount.

makes sense, thanks for opinions, the age is a factor, stuff like exhaust, gas tank(s?), rubber, body rot, etc. do indeed not matter on mileage. Then it's American made to boot, probably gets 15 mpg or worse being an 8 cylinder, not sure if it's 4wd or not.

I think the buyer doesn't really need a truck anyway, a Civic from 1997 with 100k might be a better choice, or something like that.

I bought a car like this very cheaply when just out of college and had little money. Car was 8-10 years old I dont remember, but had 15K miles on it. was being driven by an old lady to get to the grocery store. she wasnt capable of driving anymore. bought car from my neighbor and new the story was legit.

car was a steal!!! in 3 years, just had to change the battery once. car got wrecked in an accident when some crazy bitch bad driver hit me and basically sheared the entire front end off my car. nobody was hurt and thats all that matters really at times like that ( was a very close call though she bounced off and ran into a wooden power line poll and cracked it near in half, had it actually been broken power lines would have come down on both our cars and the cop said we'd probably both be dead)

really liked that car. it really helped me out to get such a bargain at that time

8-10 y.o. is better than 13-14 y.o. I think there's stuff like a gas tank that just isn't meant to go much beyond 10, maybe 12years, then you have to do a frame off restoration of the vehicle... maybe if it's an old Mustang, but not a Dodge truck. I'm pretty sure the guy just needs to move his body around, so something that gets 25+mpg is better. This full size truck seems wrong for many reasons.

at the price, you have little to lose. test drive it and take it to a mechanic of your choosing you trust and pay him for a full inspection/mechanical opinion before buying it ( having a mechanic YOU trust inspect a used car is real good advice for anyone before they buy a used car)

It doesnt cost much to have a mechanic check out a car, but it can save buying a car with hard to see but big problems

I'm not going to buy it, don't really need it. If I had to move something, the CRV would work for most things, I could always borrow a truck if I needed one for a day. With the weather lately I'd consider a motorcycle, but thet aren't allowed at my Commie condos. I'm still trying to figure out how they can forbid a bike in your parking place !
