Need advice: Bitch took my dog!

I'm sure to get some colorful responses from this gallery. So, my bitch of a fiance and I split a little while ago. While I was in the hospital with two broken feet (non-gambling related), she took my puppy, Hunter! What can I do about this? The shelter I got him from said to call the cops and have them contact her. Not sure if I want to do that. I don't even know where she's living, although I do know where she works (she's a teacher).
