A Nebraska elementary school principal was placed on administrative leave this week after she sent out an unauthorized memo banning a slew of Christmas-related items, including candy canes, which she claimed are shaped like a “J” for Jesus Christ.

Manchester Elementary principal Jennifer Sinclair sent a memo to parents and staff banning traditional Christmas decor including Santa Claus, Christmas trees, red and green items and candy canes because, “Historically,” she wrote, “the shape is a ‘J’ for Jesus. The red is for the blood of Christ, and the white is a symbol of his resurrection. This would also include different colored candy canes.”

Ms. Sinclair also included a list of secular holiday items that she deemed inclusive enough for a school setting, including polar bears, penguins, yetis, gingerbread people and snowmen.

Free speech advocacy group Liberty Counsel, which posted the memo online, sent a letter to Elkhorn Public Schools demanding that the ban be reversed, claiming it “violates the U.S. Constitution by showing hostility toward Christianity.”

District spokesperson Kara Perchal said Thursday that Ms. Sinclair was put on administrative leave and the ban had been reversed, adding that the memo did not “reflect the policy of Elkhorn Public Schools regarding holiday symbols

But thankfully her heavy-handed order drew a response from the Liberty Counsel Action. Liberty Counsel is a non-profit litigation, education, and public policy organization with an emphasis on First Amendment religious liberty issues.
Liberty Counsel immediately sent a demand letter to the superintendent of Elkhorn Public Schools in Nebraska regarding Principal Sinclair censoring all Christmas holiday symbols at the Manchester Elementary School.
[h=4]Here is an excerpt from the Liberty Counsel Demand letter:[/h]
The principal appears to have conflated her own values and preferences with the law. The First Amendment simply does not require elimination of all Christmas symbols – religious and secular – in a misguided attempt to be “inclusive” by eliminating all traditional elements of a federally- and state-recognized holiday. The effort to comprehensively eliminate Christmas symbols is Orwellian.
Liberty Counsel said the district reversed Sinclair’s decision after the case was investigated.
“We are pleased that Elkhorn Public Schools promptly reversed Principal Jennifer Sinclair’s unconstitutional directive, and required compliance with the Constitution,” said Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel.

She’s a school principal....what do you expect? School boards in this country are clueless about who they put in charge of the schools. I had a drill Sargent when I was in 8th grade. Every kid in that school had a referral against them. He once compared kicking the ball in the air and the ball coming down and hitting a kid in the head with pointing a gun outside and shooting it and someone walking into the bullet. He said who would be at fault?

Lmao. Great analogy right there. This is what the school systems in this country have come to. Outrageous people in positions they shouldn’t be in with kids.
