Proper Preparation = BIG RE$ULTS for the Big Dance

With the NCAA Basketball Tournament now less then three weeks away it is wise to prepare yourself for the First Round of hoops action. With half the tournament played out in the first two days, you are presented with your best opportunity to profit significantly. You might be asking me “How can I prepare, if I have no idea who is even going to be in the tournament?” My response is “Oh contraire my friend”.

What I have done for years is find the records of all D-1 schools exactly one month before the bids are announced. This year that would be the games played through February 15. This is the center piece of your future action. Once the bids are announced, that’s when it is time to go into action.

Compare the records of the teams that made the tourney from a month ago vs. what they are now they are going dancin’. Take their previous position in their league standings and once again compare them to what they are now that they made the tournament. Lastly keep info along the way to know where they finished in their Conference Tourney. Let me show what this should look like:

Duke 22-2 31-2 9-0 1st 1st 1st

Tulsa 17-3 24-6 7-3 1st 2nd lost semis

In the first example, Duke continued to play great through the end of the regular season. They will be a large favorite that may or may not be worth a look. Tulsa was playing great for most of the season but has been descending somewhat as the season wore on and lost in the semis of the WAC Tournament.

Now here is an example of the type of situation you could be looking for:

Maryland 11-9 19-12 8-1 6th 4th 2nd

Georgia 15-5 19-10 4-5 3rd 5th lost 1st Round

In this scenario Maryland has been peaking at the right time. Conversely, Georgia who played terrific in the first two thirds of the season stumbled down the stretch. If Georgia were to be the favorite in the case, a possible play on Maryland would be a strong possibility.

Another winning situation involving this method would be a mid-major and a large conference school.

LSU 15-6 19-11 4-6 4th 6th lost Quarters
W.Michigan 17-4 25-6 8-2 2nd 1st 2nd

In this situation a little more work is involved, but the reason for review has been established. LSU floundered down the stretch, yet is likely still thought to be a very good team from a power conference. Western Michigan played excellent basketball all year and was among the best teams in the MAC all season long. In this case, we are hoping that W. Michigan will be a near or double digit dog. If that is the case and Western Michigan is a solid defensive team (41.4 % or less) who makes more then 35% of their 3’s and is a positive margin rebounding team, you have the makings of a really strong winning selection.

In my fifteen years of using this system, I have had only two losing opening rounds, which produces results of 86 %. The hard work pays off, because it could mean turning losing days into profitable ones, or taking a good days and making them ones you’ll never forget with all the cash you would win. If anyone needs a list of the records from the aforementioned date, feel free to email me at rndsportz@cox.net and I’ll be happy to send it to you.
