vegas, no prob. GL to you this weekend. Time to bounce back after that retched Saturday.

cha-ching, I appreciate the props! GL to you and I hope you stick around!

Rex, Whats up bro! Good to see you post over here in my threads. Tech may be my biggest play of the week believe it or not. Lubbock at night is always a tough place to play, and the fact that the Horns have ABSOLUTLEY NOBODY at WR, makes me believe they won't be able to keep up. Horns only reciever Tony Jeffrey is still lingering from a shoulder injury, so it leaves a bunch of freshman taking most of the snaps at wide-out. GL and I'll come check out your plays shortly. Whats your take on your boys from Louisville? That early line jump has me a little weary of laying the lumber.

txrock, I'm with you on Tech. If Texas loses to Tech, OU, and A&M in the same year you better go to your nearest sports apparel shop and pick up a new Longhorn Visor..the one Steve Spurrier is going to make a hot item come next year.

Always will look around for a good read, so of course, I'd like to know where Vinny's site is if there's helpful stuff there.

Louisville in a tough spot. Let-down city, and Petrino doesn't like to run it up on conference opponents (E. Carolina danced on the U of L bird before the game and **** and they were disrespectful so that was different) but that's too many points; I'm on South Florida.

I'll have my thread up tomorrow or so; come over and say hi when you get time....

i'm liking memphis and kansas st as favorites / idaho, houston and fresno st as dogs. i'm keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that you'll agree with some of those. i don't change my picks or anything but you're one of several cappers that i compare notes with. good luck this week.
i liked louisville when it opened, i don't like the line movement though.

Head Coach Tom Craft

General comments:
"(Offensive lineman) Chris Pino is out for the New Mexico game. He had his second concussion in two months. He's out for two weeks. He might be available in next week's game against Utah. If he gets another concussion, he will be out for the season. It's been a difficult year with so many injuries to our offensive line. Mike Kravetz has a cast on his wrist. It's very difficult for him to function, but he gives us our best chance right now at the right guard position. We really want to use Brandon Bornes more at running back. We need to have him play more to give Michael (Franklin) a rest."
On the inexperience and injuries of the team:
"It's tough. We've lost seven starters and we are starting six freshmen on offense. We're not going to use injuries as an excuse though. We've become very competitive and in our minds, we won that game against Colorado State. We have had two of the best recruiting classes in the Mountain West Conference the last two years and you are seeing the results of that. Brandon Bornes, Kevin O'Connell, Lance Louis, Eric Miclot, Brandyn Dombrowski, Will Robinson, Mike Kravetz - these guys have all seen a significant amount of playing time and it's looking good (for) the future. It's easy to be critical of a young and inexperienced team, but they've played very well given the situation."

Horn:

What up man. Not so fast on the Cats this weekend. You may want to hear about the status of our QB Dylan Meier before you take them. He took a big blow in last weeks game and, ofcourse, Snyder won't tell a peep about his status. I will let you know if we are to here anything about it. If Meier does not play, we lose S/U.

Cat, yeah I haven't made a play on KSU. I like them in the game but it wasn't strong enough for me to make a play on them. Who are you on this weekend?

TEXAS TECH +3 (5 UNITS)

The Longhorns travel to Lubbock to play the streaking Red Raiders. Texas is 1-5 ATS so far on the year and having to play in one of the most hostile environments at night in Lubbock, Texas won’t help matters. Tech is 11-3 ATS and 12-2 SU (I think OU were the only 2 losses) at home the last 3 seasons. This game will be nationally televised on TBS so the Raider faithful will be even more fired up. Texas has played two tough hard fought games in both OU and Mizzu last week. Tech has had two weeks to prepare for this game because of the bye and should be fully rested.

When you talk about the Red Raiders this year it might be best to talk about how improved the defense has been. Opposing offenses are managing 325.5 yards per game this season, which puts the Red Raider defense 39th nationally. The Red Raider defense has made a dramatic improvement since the end of the 2003 season. A year ago the defensive unit allowed eight of 13 opponents to record over 400 yards of total offense en route to allowing an average of 453.4 yards of total offense per game last season. Midway through the 2004 season, not one opponent has cracked the 400-yard plateau.

You can be assured that Mike Leach has been on the phone with good buddy Bobby Stoops copying the same game plan that has exploited the Texas weaknesses the last two weeks.

This Longhorn team reminds me a lot of James Brown’s senior year after the Mackovick led Longhorns just upset Nebraska in the Big 12 title game. The Horns loss EVERYONE at WR, and had Ricky in the backfield and James Brown looked awful. Why? He had no communication with his young, inexperienced WR corp. Running wrong routes, poor routes, dropped passes, and basically not having any real playmakers or threats to stretch the defense. Texas was awful that year and it led to the firing of Mackovick.

I know Vince Young is everyone’s whipping boy right now but this is a BAD group of wideouts. Even those that were calling for Chance Mock to come into the game got there wish…and he actually looked worse then Young throwing the ball. Offensive coordinator Greg Davis has finally been exposed for what he is…a farce. He no longer has a WR corp of a Wayne McGarity or Kwame Cavil, or Roy Williams, BJ Johnson, and Sloan Thomas. Their talent alone covered up any deficiencies he had in play calling. It’s reared its ugly head this year and Davis is all but gone after the season.

Texas will lose this game. A one-dimensional offense that has a QB pressing and an OC that couldn’t call a game to save his life will lose Saturday in Lubbock against this high-octane offense of the Red Raiders.
