Joey Chestnut only ate 63 dogs as crazy vegan or animal rights activists protested Smithfield's meats owner of Nathans. As the narrator says it interrupted Joey while he put the protestor in a chokehold. You would think they would have security so people like this couldn't rush the stage. It could have gotten ugly.

I would imagine those bets would have to be declared no contest and refunded. This was an outside event directly impacting the contest. Contest begins at 2:37:15.
joey chestnut is the GOAT. he wins. he said he plan to compete another few years and wants to break 80 hotdogs. 62 is way off the pace though. even if that crap didn't happen, he wouldn't have been much more than 70 i would think. but i think he might have hit 66. maybe!
that was more exciting than any other sporting event i can think of in the recent 10 years.
maybe for 2023's contest they can put an over/under on how many people joey has to tackle to the ground. Over/Under at -10000 juice would be fine. or just credit him for 10 dogs eaten for every idiot he has to put in an armlock and wrestle away from the stage.
