Internet is different. I feel internet bets are subject to cancelation prior to game time due to computer glitches. However, a smart shop would have reduced limits on the net and make the bigger bettors call in to protect themselves.

My point is simple....If I get a readback it should be final. Several shops ask the stage if the line is good before they read it. This again is another way to protect a shop. However once the phonecall ends and I get a readback then thats it. The bet is final. Its really a simple rule yet so many shops refuse to take responsibility.

There was no such thing as reneging on a line until fat assed scumbags such as the Big O arrived.

In the old days jerkoffs such as this guy would be too ashamed to show up on monday to get paid. With the anonymity of the internet, scumbags such as Owen thrive.

His point is simple, I steal, let me and do nothing about it, read the first sentence of the thread a million times

quote:
IF a shop is sloppy with bad lines, on a semi regular basis, the SHOP SHOULD BE AVOIDED

This is the basis for the man's existence, if you avoid them how will he feed his himself?

Mr. Colburne,

"Either way, I know I had 9 beers..."

Well, you are a better man than I am. There is a point where I would have no idea, and it's much earlier than 9.

A futures line must be at least 100% off to be a bad line.

Bowmans had Wild +10000 when they were down 3-1 to the canucks. Olympic had +2600 This was a scalpable line as you could bet the other side the entire rest of the playoffs and make a profit by just betting the other teams series moneylines.

Doing the math and figuring a NJ/MW,ANA/MW,VAN SERIES

I did the math and found that the -300,-155,-600 added up to much less than +10000. Bowmans like this line and didn't even move it after i bet it for max but thats not to say they wouldn't have cancelled if i won because the bet did lose

I've never heard of a place like Grande or Pinnacle cry bad line, and I was under the impression that situations like this don't come up that often, especially with programs like Don Best which I would assume all the offshore books subscribe to. The problem of bad lines seems to be a result of poor management and poorly trained employees. Although I would agree that you are asking for trouble and aggravation betting into what you would consider a bad line, I'm getting the impression from this thread that bad lines are much more prevalent than I thought they were. If there are that many bad lines out there then maybe the reason is that there are too many books out there that shouldn't be in business in the first place. Think about it-- Who would you rather post your money with, a well run shop like Grande or Pinnacle or a shop run so poorly that they constantly make mistakes? The way I see it eventually the poorly run places will find a way to poorly manage the money you posted. The best way to solve the bad line problem is for the books to honor the bad line bets (they are welcome to offer the player the option of get paid or get booted), but a book allowed to cry bad line has no reason to care whether they ever have them right. If they had to pay each time then they would be more careful and put more safeguards into place and eventually bad lines would become extinct. I do advocate telling a book if they have a questionable number because down the road that good will usually gets reciprocated. Bottom line however is books will always continue to have bad lines if they are not held accountable for posting them, booking them and crying about them.
