I know this is a bit old but I had to comment. Fuck Jack sorry to hear about your dads car but i'm glad to hear he is ok.

For anyone that actually took notice to the pictures, the accident was on the new highway. Those who state that 140 kph is stupid, they have obviously NEVER EVER driven a performance car and making such comments is IGNORANT.

As for the insurance my dad tried to insure a Porchse that was rebuilt with tons and tons of money into it. INS simply said no they wouldn't insure that car. INS probably wouldn't even insure the Ferrari, even if Jack's dad wanted to and like Jack says too much money anyway. In 2 years you can have another Ferrari.

There was NO tail gating here it was simply a FUCKING MORON that decided to STOP on the FUCKING HIGHWAY. I have ALMOST crashed because of the same thing. I was lucky enough to not be driving after dark or in rain. I rode a motorcycle for many years and for that reason i'm fairly religious about driving very carefully when it starts raining. That oil and shit Jack talks about comes out of the road as soon as it starts raining and stays for the first 30 minutes while raining making the road VERY slippery. I probably wouldn't have been driving quick in those conditions but everyone to their own.

The problem is 100% the education of the drivers in this country. They are fucking morons. They don't think ahead making drastic last minute reactions on busy roads (or stopping) in the middle of the road (like the idiots do all the time from the left lane to get onto the turn-off to Pavas from Escazu -> San Jose).

I always think it would be nice if the cops started stopping them but then I think if they did that then I probably wouldn't be able to speed anymore because they'd be fairly proficient at their job.

It's pretty sad you can't even spell the brand of daddy's car right.

And you can't deny the fact that there is a major lack of driver education here.

I totally AGREE that it is lack of driver education

We have two factors

a) one that thinks that they can do a turn in a highway
b) another one that ignores the speed limit and thinks that their 'high performance machine' and their incredible 'formula 1' piloting skills allow them to go at 140 kph or higher in 'their??' own private expressway

In other words, we have not one but TWO drivers who ignored the rules= recipe for disaster

Everyone thinks the rules are 'for someone else who is not as great a driver as I am' well......shit happens and people die (I know, 'awesome italian engineering' .....and luck that there was noone nearby that got hit by it)

The speed limit exists for several reasons and one of those is to protect the other drivers from yourself, I myself don't want to worry that some 'awesome pilot of a high performance machine' is going to have the slightlest problem while going at 140 kph and is going to endanger me or my family.

Obviously we have two different views on this and well, I won't try to convince you further. Hopefully no other 'high performance driver' will injure (or worst) anyone you care about.

In the meantime, from today's La Extra

Well you can always depend on the Extra for some graphic fotos. Unfortunately i've seen to many of those situations on the streets.

I believe you hold a valid point in pointing out that the driver of the accident in question was partly responsible due to the fact that he was speeding.

Regardless i'd bet that based on the "road conditions", a car like that due to weight and tire size would have ended up in the same situation even at the speed limit due to the fact that big fat tires only work well on dry roads and because of it being a light vehicle there is even less down force.

idiot4breakfast: why the hell would I care how Porsche is spelt? I don't own one, care to own one or like them.

Also based on your comment you didn't read my post at all. So re-read it and take a chill pill.~~:<<

You are right I didn't read the article, because "La Extra" usually has a bunch of bullshit in their paper. In having now read the article I would not have made such a statement.

Street Racers are stupid, careless and very dangerous for any driver on the road.

Change your mind kid or one day is gonna be you who will end up with someone's blood in your hands.

I drive very carefully as i'm well aware of the problems that exist on the road here. I never speed and am courteous at all times!

Driving at 1 KPH with rubber bumpers would be safer that 20 KPH but would we actually get any where? Walking would be even safer than that. Tobacco kills more people than traffic accidents ever year yet it's a dollar a pack here.

You guys drive the way you want. I'll still do 260 KPH on the way home and 220 on the way in. When I die I'll get to repeat it in the next life.

Chill out and have a drink. You assholes could argue about absolutely anything.

PS- Nick, Rock on! I need some help with my 12 oclocks.

About the tobacco, there are some lawmakers that want to quadruple the price of that in the near future so they might fix that for you soon. (Although I dont really care if it kills 1 billion people/ day since I can at least minimize my exposure to 2nd hand smoke and well, traffic would be much better if all the smokers kick the bucket)

About the 'repeat in next life' a clean departure is of course prefered to end up as a quadraplegic who can't even masturbate OR you could have it the other way, kill someone and then get to enjoy a lot of anal sex. Either way we get a break on the roads LOL

Holy shit...as per this link http://www.nacion.com/ln_ee/2008/junio/20/pais1575247.html ....40% of the cost of the stupid cancer sticks goes to the bank account of the goverment......knowing that should make everyone stop smoking......simply by knowing that they are going to steal that money! (There was a more recent article but can't find it at the moment)

edit#2 , aja here it is

PAC

Regarding the stupid son of a bitch who actually killed 2 people last friday...
one of the girls (7 yrs old) injured happens to be one of my brother's students, poor little thing still is in shock and not aware of her mom's death yet. how many more innocent people shall perish before we LEARN how to behave on the fukin' streets.
i got a little emotional there, but it just makes me freaking mad.

ps: jack, glad your dad is fine and nobody is hurt.
