My very first bookie, who was an avid horse bettor died during the '99 Kentucky derby

Suffered a heart attack, I believe.

Technically for a gambler that is the very best way to go out...

Did he owe you money?
Not much new his son pretty well. Always texted my plays after 4 or 5 days no confirmation started thinking something off then got the call from his son . He was ok as a book shitty arithmetic always got ironed out but didn’t expect him to go. Heavy smoker drinker lack of movement that’s probably a common trait

A friend of mine made friends with his neighbor and turned out was a bookie. Young guy ten years younger than us and we used him as another out. He played poker with us and he took us to games. He always came up with tickets Stanford basketball Warriors Sharks you name it. So a couple few years ago a friend who l hooked them up calls me telling me Moe died said he was leaving voice mails and finally he called back but it was his son telling him the news we were numb. I hadn’t used him in a good 15 years. My buddies don’t know shit about computers is why the kept him. I had to guide them through the process of offshore bookies.

It's 2021, and somebody is still using a bookie?

in NY where this poster is from, FL and Cal this is most common.

Correct and he's all the way out to the end of Long Island, Montauk. So it's a local or offshore. It's a major hike to get to Jersey.

You are not kidding . Been using a friend in Vegas placing my bets . I guess not a real hassle for him since phone app requires little movement .
