On Clark's income tax brackets: a family of four making $50,000 or less will pay NO income tax?? That's bullshit, in my opinion. I don't take issue with enforcing taxation to corporations (waaaayyy too many loopholes, in Canada as well as the US) but to exclude people who wouldn't even qualify for poverty level is absurd, not to mention insulting. Is the suggestion, then, that the only way for the poor (debatable, again) to get out of poverty is with a helping hand by the government? In reality, all that this will do is provide little incentive for a family to want to increase their income to the over-50 mark, unless it is dramatic enough to justify the tax hit. You can be assured, as well, that fewer women (wives) will feel encouragement to work, a dangerous position given the divorce rate.
I suggest leaving taxes as they are, increasing the taxes to big business, and re-organizing tax revenues to make public education, especially in lower-income urban regions the number 1 priority. Bandaid solutions simply don't, and won't, work.
