I was disappointed with CSU last season as I thought it might be a bust out season for them after two years of injuries to key personnel. But, when the season was played out, CSU just couldn't ever get over the mountain. They played a lot of close games both SU & ATS but just couldn't get the extra points it took to win both sides of the line. CSU graduated one of their best QB's in the last couple of years in Hanie and with their WR corps graduating as well, the passing game this year looks in doubt. They do return a verteran offensive line and a powerful running back tandem in Bell and Johnson. Defensively, they return only 5 starters but the players that will fill the vacancies are all experienced players. I can't find any "play-on games" to recommend, but I am looking for some UNDER plays with the lack of a passing game, breaking in a new QB, a powerful running game they are likely to depend on, and an experienced defensive.

Thanks Sooner BS, I have enjoyed all your right ups on bet on games for 2008. I was curious as to your opinion on the Colorado v Colorado St game. Getting 12 in this rivalry seems like good play for week 1, any thoughts?

Colorado State will not be any better than they were last year whenever they won only 3 games. They have to break in a new QB and they have to replace a lot of players on defense -- including nearly their entire defensive line and defensive backfield. Colorado State will have their top 2 running backs back and a decent offensive line, but Colorado's strongest unit defensively is their defensive line so they will have a tough time running against Colorado. Colorado State cannot really play to any of Colorado's weaknesses, but Colorado can take advantage of CSU's. I look for Colorado to wreak havoc on Colorado State's new QB.

Colorado has got better every year since Hawkins took over the program. He has some experienced players coming back on both sides of the ball this year and he has recruited some players that are likely good enough to start right off and help the team (Darrell Scott, RB and Maxwell Tuioti-Mariner, LG to name a couple.) Both the guys on offense and defense have been in the system long enough now to have a handle on what Hawkins expects. They went from a 2-10 season two years ago whenever Hawkins took over the program to a 6-7 season last year. This year, I think they could actually even have a 7 win season or better despite some BIG names being on their schedule (West Virginia, Florida State, Texas, etc.)

Colorado likely wins this game by 17 points or more, . . . .
