It is not that far fetched. He could be hidden in another country, right now, apprearance altered, new name, protected, smiling from ear to ear. Think of how incredible it is that this happened in a federal facility, he was already suicidal, and clearly one of the most high profile prisoners in a long time... so this is not much more of a reach, is it?

When you have "friends" with global connections, corporations, countires, and tens of (hundreds of?) billions of dollars, things can get done.

I would guess that it is much more lilely that he was murdered, or "allowed" to committ suicide.

We almost certainly will never know.
