ANALYSIS: Pre-playing the Mets worked two of three over the weekend. San Diego is a lot better competition than Miami just was for NYM, but we'll play this Monday game now because of the Sunday night curse -- and in case a key Padres player is injured during tonight's game in Atlanta. I don't have exact numbers on me, but last year teams that played on Sunday night and traveled to play Monday were truly terrible in that Monday spot. Perhaps pitching at home is what Max Scherzer needs as the Mets righty has a 6.35 ERA in two away starts. This figures to be personal as the Padres lit him up in Game 1 of their 2022 wild card series game at Citi Field.

ANALYSIS: The Rays are not just 9-0 SU but also 9-0 on the runline. They have played three dregs, though, in Detroit, Washington and Oakland. I am going to pre-play this Monday ML because I highly doubt that Boston's best hitter in the early going, Adam Duvall, will be in the lineup so this should only rise. He hurt his wrist attempting to make a catch in Sunday's game and left. Didn't look good. Duvall might be the AL MVP thus far, so it's a big deal. It's Nick Pivetta on the mound for the Sox, and the Rays really had his number in 2022.

ANALYSIS: We'll grab this Monday line now because it probably gets north of -200 by first pitch. The A's were just obliterated in a three-game series at the Rays -- the MLB record for most away losses might be in jeopardy this year -- and dating back a while have won just 10 of their past 50 series openers. Kyle Gibson was not great in his Orioles debut but much better in Game 2. This will be the weakest lineup he will see all season.

The Yankees should be able to keep this close -- they're covering in 73% of my model's simulations.

ANALYSIS: This is simple -- Ottawa is one of the best ATS teams in the league, and Carolina is one of the worst. It's nice when we can get something of a layup like this, especially with the good ATS team skating on home ice. If you need even more of a sweetener, the Senators are covering in a whopping 78% of my model's simulations.

ANALYSIS: I love getting Milwaukee at plus money here. The Brewers have come out of the gate with their hair on fire and look like one of the heavyweights in the National League. The Diamondbacks aren't slouches either, having just taken three of four from the Dodgers. The Brewers are winning outright in 59% of my model's simulations, but if you're looking for a safer route, they're also covering in 78%.

ANALYSIS: This is a significant pitching mismatch. Taking the hill for the Guardians will be Shane Bieber, who has never finished a season with a FIP above 3.32. Starting for the Yankees will be Domingo German, who didn’t pitch as well as his 3.61 ERA would lead you to believe last season. His FIP was 4.44 and he had just a 19.5 percent strikeout rate. As dangerous as the top of the Yankees’ lineup can be, expect Bieber to lead the Guardians to a victory.

ANALYSIS: The Pirates received the bad news Sunday that Oneil Cruz fractured his ankle in a collision at home plate. He is one of their most dangerous hitters with his combination of power and speed, so his loss will be a big one. They should have a difficult time scoring runs against Framber Valdez, who had a 2.82 ERA that was supported by a 3.06 FIP last season. Starting for the Pirates will be Roansy Contreras, who has a career 9.3 percent walk rate. That could end up being his downfall against an Astros’ lineup that is full of patient hitters. Last season, they drew the ninth-most walks, while striking out the second-fewest times.

ATLANTA -189 ANALYSIS: I know we got burnt last night taking the Braves and this is a hefty price but I think this a nice spot to back them coming off three consecutive losses. They're at home against a mediocre Reds team. Two young talented pitchers on the mound tonight with minimal big league experience.I believe it's only a matter of time until Atlanta's bats wake up. Give me the home team that needs a win.
