SUNDAY 1-3 -21.03 UNITS

Gave a little bit back yesterday and looking to get it back tonight. Here are tonights selections:

5 Units Notre Dame +3.5 -103

A couple of pretty good teams square off in Milwaukee. The Irish (LY: 24-10 SU, 12-17 ATS, R: 4-6 SU, ATS) are only one game in, but it was a dandy. Torin Francis scored 24 points and Chris Thomas added 17 as the 20th-ranked Fighting Irish held off a huge rally for a 74-65 victory over Northern Illinois. The Irish are a solid defensive team, as they bottled up Northern Illinois in the first half, limiting the Huskies to 27.5 percent shooting (11-of-40). The poor shooting continued into the second half. Marquette (27-6 SU, 19-10 ATS, H: 15-1 SU, 8-4 ATS) has played one Division I school. They topped St. John's 52-45 in a woeful shooting performance a week ago. Marquette needs juco transfer Marcus Jackson, a 6-foot-8, 240-pound center, to step in and do all he can to replace some of Robert Jackson's scoring and rebounding. Freshman Brandon Bell is a point guard, but what the Golden Eagles really need are shooting guards, so freshmen Dameon Mason and Carlton Christian will jump right into the competition for playing time. Between good Irish defense and poor Marquette shooting, Notre Dame looks tough, even on the road. A year ago, Notre Dame whipped Marquette 92-71 as a 3-point favorite!!!

5 Units Auburn -13.5 -105

Long road trip for Colorado State heading East to play the SEC. It will be the battle of the big men this game, as Colorado State's (2-1) big center 7’-0” junior Matt Nelson takes on a tall, athletic Auburn frontcourt. This will be the third straight road game for Colorado State and notice that in their only loss, the Rams travelled to physical Oklahoma State and got smacked 82-49! Also, Colorado State was just 5-10 SU/8-7 ATS on the road last season. The (4-0) Auburn Tigers have played four cupcakes, with the possible exception of Western Kentucky. And that was a blowout, with Auburn rolling 86-64! The Tigers have a terrific frontcourt player who has emerged in 6’-8” junior Brandon Robinson (17.5, 7.8 rpg) who has been a force down low. They also have great height and depth with 6'-7" Marco Killingsworth (14 ppg) and 6'-10" board-banger Kyle Davis. Auburn was 15-4 SU at home a year ago (11-5 ATS) and has the frontcourt to handle the Rams by double-digits.

7 Units New Mexico -10 -103

Two strong offensive teams meet here, so look for a lot of points. The Portland Pilots (76 ppg) like to run with a strong backcourt of 6’-4” sophomore Donald Wilson and 5’-10” sophomore Eugene Jeter (23 ppg). Portland is shooting 47% and won 97-89 at Oregon State. But the defense allowed 76.8 ppg away from home last season and New Mexico has been on an offensive roll. Coach Ritchie McKay's New Mexico Lobos (2-0) have a new look this season with two outstanding low-post contributors in 6’-9”, 240-lb sophomore David Chiotti (20 ppg, 7.5 rpg) and 6’-8”, 250-lb freshman Justin Benson (8 rpg). This has allowed 5’-11” senior Javin Tindall to strut his stuff from 3-point land (61%) and he's averaging 22.5 points per game! New Mexico destroyed a San Francisco team 95-42 that is similar to Portland -- good guard play, few big men.

5 Units Kansas -13 -101
Roy Williams may be gone, but Kansas looks similar in style to last season -- a run and gun offense that is winning. Kansas (2-0) is shooting 49% from the field averaging 82.8 points per game. Keith Langford and Aaron Miles push the ball up the court in an uptempo pace, while terrific low-post threat Wayne Simien looks fully healthy (24 points, 8 rebounds per game). Kansas is off an impressive 81-74 victory over No. 3 Michigan State. This will be the third straight home game for TCU (1-1), but they lost 74-62 at home to Tulsa as a 1-point favorite. TCU is shooting just 41% as a team and they don't have the frontcourt to slow down Simien. A possible letdown spot for Kansas after the big win, but they still have too much and will score a bundle here with their fast-paced attack.

Good luck tonight my friend,
