Rocketman Sports FREE MLB play Monday 7-31-17 San Francisco @ Oakland 10:05 PM EST

San Francisco is 40-66 SU overall this year while Oakland comes in with a 46-59 SU overall record on the season. MLB | TOR vs CWS

Play on: OVER 10½ -110

Game Analysis

1* Bonus Play over Jays/White Sox. Both of these starting pitchers have seen better days. Marco Estrada (4-7, 5.43 ERA) gave up two runs off three hits and four walks while striking out four over five frames in an eventual no-decision against the A’s on Wednesday. Estrada though has been a train-wreck over the last month, posting a 7.64 ERA, 1.91 WHIP and 30:30 K:BB over his last 33 innings of work (note that he’s just 2-5 with a 5.91 ERA on the road this year.) James Shields (2-3, 5.86) gave up five runs off five hits and three walks while striking out four over four innings in a setback to the Cubs on Wednesday. Shields looked horrible coming into that start as well, having allowed 16 runs over his previous 15 innings of work (is just 2-3 with a 5.84 ERA at home as well this season.) Recent form displayed by these two pitchers suggests that we’ll have a bit of a “slug-fest” on our hands in this one. Consider the over.

MLB | TOR vs CWS

Play on: OVER 10½ -110

Game Analysis

Play - Blue Jays-White Sox OVER (Game 915).

Edges - Blue Jays: Estrada 7.93 ERA with 1.91 WHIP last 7 overall starts, and 11 BBs with 12 Ks last three starts… White Sox: Shields 7.94 ERA with 1.91 WHIP last 7 overall starts, with 9 BBs and 8 Ks last three starts. With both pitchers in rotten current form, look for a well-lit scoreboard tonight. We recommend a 1* play on the OVER total in this game. Thank you and good luck as always.

MLB | TAM vs HOU

Play on: UNDER 9 -125

Game Analysis

1* Bonus Play UNDER Rays/Astros.

A couple of capable starters collide on Monday night and all signs point to a classic “duel.”
Alex Cobb: He’s 9-6 with a 3.46 ERA. Cobb gave up one run off four hits and one walk while striking out six over seven innings in a victory over Baltimore on Wednesday. Cobb has now posted eight quality starts out of his last nine trips to the hill, posting a tiny 2.24 ERA and 38 K’s over his last 64.1 innings of work (is 6-3 with a 3.40 ERA in all “night” games.)
Charlie Morton: He’s 8-4 with a 3.83 ERA. Morton most recently went seven scoreless against the Phillies on Tuesday, scattering three hits while striking out nine. Morton threw 71 of his 105 pitches for strikes and has posted a solid 3.28 ERA and 27:8 K:BB ratio over his last 24.1 innings of work (is 5-2 with a 3.69 ERA at home and 7-2 with a 3.32 ERA in all night contests.)
The bottom line: For the most part MLB handicapping comes down to the starting pitching. All signs point to these pitchers dueling into the latter frames. Consider the UNDER.

MLB | Braves vs Phillies

Play on: Braves -107 at 5Dimes

Game Analysis

Mike Foltynewicz established himself as Atlanta’s ace during the early portion of this season and he has strengthened that distinction as he has produced 2.95 ERA over his past seven starts. He is averaging 8K's per start in his last 3 and we'll back him on Monday afternoon to get us the early cash.

MLB | Giants vs A's

Play on: A's -146 at 5Dimes

10* Bonus Play OF THE DAY

Oakland Athletics -146

When I saw the A's laying nearly a buck fifty, I had to look more into the game. Well the A's are big favorites for a reason here folks and we'll back them for 1% tonight.

The Giants are coming off playing a weekend series on the road, against their hated rivals. Their showcase Sunday Night game also went into extra innings, where they lost in devastating fashion. I can definitely see the Giants lacking motivation for this game. San Francisco also sends pitching machine, Matt Cain to the bump. The Giants are 3-8 in Cain's last 11 starts and have gone 10-30 facing a team with a losing record when Cain starts.
Although the Athletics are in a down year, this team has played surprisingly well at home, going 29-24. They have also taken 13 of the last 18 meetings here and 4 straight against Matt Cain.

MLB | Nationals vs Marlins

Play on: Nationals -128 at 5Dimes

Gio Gonzalez is in the midst of a career year, all of the experts are predicting he falls at some point. it likely wont happen today. The Marlins are 25-27 at home, and Urena has struggled to the tune of 11 ER in his last 14 IP. With 9 walks to boot - The Nats should feast

MLB | Tigers vs Yankees

Play on: Tigers +1½ +100 at 5Dimes

I admit I'm leery of the Tigers' bullpen especially with closer Justin Wilson, their most consistent reliever, traded now to the Cubs. But there's way too much value to pass on the Tigers here. So I'm going to grab it - but with insurance - by taking 1 1/2 runs on the run line. The pitching matchup is Michael Fulmer versus Luis Severino. This isn't a fade on Severino. How can it be when he's pitching his best ball allowing just one earned run in his past 27 innings. I will point out, though, the Yankees usually do better when Severino goes against a winning opponent. New York is 2-9 the past 11 times Severino has started versus sub .500 foes. Fulmer isn't exactly a stiff. He won Rookie of the Year honors last season and is a steady 10-8 with a 3.35 ERA this season. He's made 17 quality starts this year and can be counted on for a solid performance. The Tigers enter this matchup with a lot of confidence having just destroyed the Astros, 13-1, on Sunday. Detroit has scored 23 runs in its last three games. If given 1 1/2 runs, they would be 11-4 in their last 15 games. Aaron Judge is a big key for the Yankees. But he's batting only .158 since the All-Star break. (Editor's note: Stephen Nover is coming off a Sunday sweep and has a strong totals play going today in addition to this free selection.)

MLB | SEA vs TEX

Play on: UNDER 10½ -107

7/31 08:05 PM EST MLB (911) SEATTLE MARINERS VS (912) TEXAS RANGERS.

Take: UNDER THE TOTAL.

Reason: Your Bonus Play for Monday, July 31, 2017 comes in baseball as the Seattle Mariners head to Texas to play the Rangers. Seattle is 30-12-1 under the total against a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. Seattle has Felix Hernandez on the mound, with a 64-18 strikeout to walk ratio in 68 innings. The Under is 18-8-1 when Hernandez starts with 5 days of rest. Texas is on a 6-2-1 run under the total at home. Cole Hamels (5-1, 3.97 ERA) has been throwing well and has a 2.88 ERA at home. And the Under is 7-3 when King Felix faces the Rangers. Play Seattle/Texas Under the total.

MLB | Mariners vs Rangers

Play on: Rangers -113 at 5Dimes

Monday MLB Bonus Play. My selection is on Texas over Seattle at 8:05 pm et on Monday.

The Mariners crawled back to the .500 mark with yesterday's blowout win over the Mets. I'm not sure we'll see them advance past that mark on Monday night in Arlington, however, even with King Felix on the mound.

Despite Hernandez's positive reputation, the fact is he's managed only five wins against four losses this season. That's not to mention a less than stellar 4.08 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. He's lasted at least six innings only once in his last three starts.
Cole Hamels will take the ball for Texas. While he's not the pitcher he once was, he's still getting the job done for the Rangers with a 5-1 record, 3.97 ERA and impressive 1.12 WHIP. Hamels has been working deep into ball games lately, going at least six innings in four of his last five starts.
Despite sitting behind a number of teams in the race, an A.L. Wild Card spot is still not out of the question for the Rangers. After a tough weekend against Baltimore I look for them to bounce back here. Take Texas (8*).

MLB | Tigers vs Yankees

Play on: Yankees -1½ -101 at BMaker

I like the Yankees in this match-up against the Tigers. Severino this year is 7-4 with a 3.03 ERA. In his last 3 starts he is 2-0 with a 0.43 ERA. Fulmer in his last 3 starts is 1-2 with a 4.34 ERA. The Yankees are 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. The Tigers are 1-4 in their last 5 road games with Fulmer on the mound.

MLB | Giants vs A's

Play on: A's -137 at 5Dimes

Jack's Free Pick Monday: Oakland A's -137

The San Francisco Giants are coming off a demoralizing sweep at the hands of the rival Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend. They way they lost all three games in blowing them late and losing by a combined four runs had to take a lot out of them. I don't look for them to be too interested in beating the A's in Game 1 of this series Monday.

The A's have been a surprisingly good home bet at 30-24 on the season. Paul Blackburn has been impressive in his five starts this year, going 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA and 1.062 WHIP. He is clearly the better starter in this matchup tonight.

Matt Cain has been a disaster once again in 2017. He has gone 3-9 with a 5.38 ERA and 1.645 WHIP in 19 starts. While he has been respectable at home, he still hasn't won on the road, going 0-6 with an 8.14 ERA and 1.986 WHIP in nine road starts this season.

The Giants are 1-11 vs. an AL starting pitcher whose ERA is 3.40 or better over the last two seasons. The Giants are 18-39 in their last 57 road games. San Francisco is 8-23 in Cain's last 31 road starts. Oakland is 7-1 in its last eight home games vs. a right-handed starter. The Giants are 5-13 in their last 18 meetings at Oakland, including 0-4 in Cain's last four road starts at Oakland. Bet the A's Monday.

MLB | Giants vs A's

Play on: Giants +128 at betonline

We lost a tough one with the Twins yesterday as they blew a 5-0 lead and eventually lost to Oakland in 12 innings. That was the second straight win for the A's following a 2-9 stretch and now they come in favored by the biggest moneyline they have been favored by since July 5. This is an overreaction to the weekend as well as the result of the opposition that has added to the miserable season for the Giants. Going back, the Athletics are 1-8 in their last nine Interleague home games against teams with a losing record. They were swept in Los Angeles against the Dodgers with the final two games resulting in one-run losses including an extra-inning defeat last night which wasted a gem from Madison Bumgarner. We saw Bartolo Colon pitch a quality start yesterday against Oakland and Matt Cain is more than capable of the same result. He has allowed five runs in his two starts since the All-Star Break and while his road work has been poor, he faces the worst offense he has seen on the highway as Oakland is hitting an American League worst .237 while hitting an MLB worst .238 against right-handed pitching. He is 4-5 with a 2.34 ERA in 12 games, including 11 starts, against the A's. The question for Oakland is who is going to be starting and right now it is still Sonny Gray but that is likely to change by this afternoon as he is likely to be dealt. That means Paul Blackburn will make the start on his regular rest and he is coming off the best start of his young career. He allowed no runs on two hits in seven innings at Toronto and even though he has a 2.25 ERA, Oakland is just 2-3 in his starts as the bullpen has allowed 14 runs in his five starts. Play (917) San Francisco Giants

This game features the 53-53 Mariners and the 50-54 Rangers. Do or die series for the Rangers as they really need a sweep here if they have any wild card chance. Cole Hamels is the better pitcher in this game not sold that king Felix is 100% healthy or even how much this guy has left in the tank. 61% of the public bets are coming in on the road Mariners I'll stick with the home Rangers and lay a little juice for a 15* winner.
