Detroit

Not quite sure why the price favors a fading Seattle team that has lost 15 of 23. True Detroit has some pitching issues but facing the red-hot bats of the Royals over the weekend had something to do with those recent troubles. Don't be deceived by the subpar numbers of Tigers starter Mike Pelfrey, who has pitched adequately in 6 of his last 7 starts, while the Mariners have lost the last three games started by Nathan Karns, who hasn't pitched beyond the fifth inning of any of those.

GAME: Arizona Diamondbacks (32-39) at Philadelphia Phillies (30-40)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 20 - 1:05 PM EST
WHERE: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Citizens Bank Park once was considered a hitters' haven for many years after opening its doors in 2004, but the venue has been anything but recently to the team that calls it home. The Philadelphia Phillies hope to break out of an offensive funk Monday, when they try to avoid being on the wrong end of a four-game sweep against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks.

The 12-year-old park has settled into more of a neutral offensive stadium in recent years, although Philadelphia - the majors' lowest-scoring team - has been taking it to the extreme this season, averaging 2.7 runs at the venue thus far. The Phillies failed to even reach that low threshold for the sixth straight time at home in Sunday's 5-1 loss to Arizona and are averaging 1.8 runs during their six-game losing streak. The Diamondbacks sent Philadelphia to its 23rd defeat in the last 29 games overall with Sunday's victory and have had no such problems offensively during their visit, outscoring the hosts 19-4. Perhaps the Phillies' scuffling offense will offer a soft landing spot for Shelby Miller, who was activated from the disabled list Sunday in hopes he can rebound for a miserable 10-game start to his tenure with Arizona.

TV: 1:05 p.m. ET; MLB Network, FSN Arizona, CSN Philadelphia

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Shelby Miller (1-6, 7.09 ERA) vs. Phillies RH Jeremy Hellickson (4-5, 4.46)

Miller returns to a big-league mound for the first time since May 24 after a successful two-start rehab stint while recovering from a sprained right index finger. The 25-year-old Houston native went 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA for Single-A Visalia, striking out 19 over 12 innings of work after suffering losses in five of his last six turns in the majors. Miller went 2-1, 1.98 in four starts against the Phillies last season while with Atlanta but received a total of one run of support in the two non-victories.

Hellickson remained winless since May 24 on Wednesday, falling to 0-3 with a 5.23 ERA in five starts after giving up four runs on five hits and three walks in six frames versus Toronto. The 29-year-old Iowa native has been brilliant in four afternoon outings this season, however, going 2-0 with a 2.78 ERA (as opposed to 2-5, 5.12 in 10 turns at night). Hellickson has dropped both of his career starts versus the team for which he played last season, posting a 9.00 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and .333 batting average against.

WALK-OFFS

1. Arizona 1B Paul Goldschmidt is batting .373 with seven homers during his major league-leading 13-game hitting streak.

2. Philadelphia has scored more than three runs only 10 times in 37 home games.

3. To make room for Miller on the roster, the Diamondbacks optioned 3B/OF Brandon Drury to Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

GAME: San Francisco Giants (44-26) at Pittsburgh Pirates (33-36)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 20 - 7:05 PM EST
WHERE: PNC Park, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The San Francisco Giants look to take advantage of a struggling opponent and extend their winning streak when they begin a four-game road series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday. San Francisco has built a 6 1/2-game lead over Los Angeles in the National League West as it has won eight straight contests since dropping a 3-2 decision to the Dodgers at home June 10.

The Giants completed a three-game sweep at Tampa Bay with a 5-1 triumph Sunday — staging a four-run rally in the eighth inning that was ignited by an RBI single from Joe Panik, who has gone 13-for-38 (.342) with seven RBIs over his last nine contests. Pittsburgh returns home from a six-game road trip on which it lost the final five contests. The Pirates fell to 1-10 in their last 11 games overall with Sunday's 10-5 setback against the Chicago Cubs, which marked the fourth time they have yielded at least six runs during their current skid. Starling Marte returned to the starting lineup for the first time since taking a one-hopper off his face Wednesday and continued to swing a hot bat, recording a two-run triple among his three hits and improving to 13-for-27 (.481) over his last eight games.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, CSN Bay Area (San Francisco), ROOT (Pittsburgh)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants LH Madison Bumgarner (8-2, 1.91 ERA) vs. Pirates LH Jeff Locke (5-5, 5.92)

Bumgarner improved to 7-0 over his last 10 starts Tuesday as he limited Milwaukee to two runs and four hits in eight innings. The 26-year-old has allowed more than two earned runs only twice in 14 outings this season, with both occasions taking place during his first three turns. Pittsburgh is one of only four National League teams against which Bumgarner owns a losing record, as the native of North Carolina is 2-3 with a 3.45 ERA in five career outings versus the Pirates.

Locke has been brutal of late, surrendering 18 runs and 20 hits while working only 8 2/3 innings over his last two outings after winning four consecutive starts. The 28-year-old from New Hampshire is unbeaten in his last four turns at home, going 3-0 while lasting at least 6 1/3 frames in each contest. Locke has not fared well against San Francisco, as he is 0-1 while yielding 15 runs and 24 hits over 14 1/3 innings in three career starts.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Pirates have recorded 50 stolen bases this season, ranking second in the NL behind Milwaukee (63).

2. San Francisco 3B Matt Duffy played in his 188th consecutive game Sunday, the longest current streak in the major leagues.

3. Pittsburgh C Jacob Stallings went 0-for-4 in his major league debut Sunday after being recalled from Triple-A earlier in the day while INF Jason Rogers was optioned to Indianapolis.

GAME: Colorado Rockies (32-36) at Miami Marlins (37-32)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 20 - 7:10 PM EST
WHERE: Marlins Park, Miami, Florida
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Miami Marlins have beaten up on National League West teams this season and will try to continue that trend when they aim for a four-game sweep of the visiting Colorado Rockies on Monday. Marcell Ozuna slugged a three-run homer and four pitchers combined on a two-hitter to lift the Marlins to a 3-0 win Sunday, which gave them a 14-5 mark against the NL West.

It also vaulted them into second place in the NL East for the first time since the season's opening week. The Rockies had won six of seven before arriving in Miami but have hit a wall against Marlins pitching, posting a .122 average through the first three games of the set. Leadoff hitter Charlie Blackmon is hitless in 12 at-bats and No. 2 hitter D.J. LeMahieu is 1-for-11 in the series for Colorado. Veteran Jorge De La Rosa gets the start in the finale for the Rockies opposite Paul Clemens, who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2014 and hasn't started a game since 2013.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, ROOT (Colorado), FSN Florida (Miami)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies LH Jorge De La Rosa (3-4, 7.61 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Paul Clemens (2014: 0-1, 5.84)

De La Rosa followed up four perfect innings of relief against Pittsburgh on June 9 with five scoreless frames in a start against the New York Yankees on Tuesday. He has allowed one run and six hits in 13 innings since giving up seven runs in 3 1/3 at Boston on May 24. The 35-year-old from Mexico is 6-5 with a 5.23 ERA in his career versus the Marlins.

Clemens was 4-8 with a 5.51 ERA in 48 games (five starts) over two seasons with Houston before bouncing around in the Philadelphia and Kansas City systems and then landing with Miami last fall. He was 6-4 with a 4.30 ERA in 14 starts for Triple-A New Orleans this year, allowing five runs and just eight hits in 18 1/3 innings over his last three outings. The 28-year-old faced Colorado twice in relief in May of 2013 and was awarded the win in both appearances.

WALK-OFFS

1. Marlins RF Giancarlo Stanton is 6-for-12 in the series after going 5-for-43 in his previous 12 games.

2. Miami is 61-34 all-time at home against Colorado.

3. Clemens takes the roster spot of LHP Justin Nicolino, who was optioned to New Orleans on Sunday.

Preview: White Sox at Red Sox

GAME: Chicago White Sox (33-36) at Boston Red Sox (39-29)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 20 - 7:10 PM EST
WHERE: Fenway Park, Boston, Massachusetts
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Chicago White Sox got off to a rough start on their seven-game road trip and things are not going to get much easier. The White Sox will try to snap a three-game slide and earn their first win on the trip when they visit the Boston Red Sox for the first of four contests on Monday.

Chicago sandwiched a 13-2 loss around a pair of walk-off setbacks at Cleveland to begin the trip and dropped three games below .500 with 11 losses in the last 15 games. The White Sox have some issues with the starting pitching – particularly newcomer James Shields – but are also struggling on the offensive side with a total of six runs in the three games against the Indians. The Red Sox squeezed out a series win against the Seattle Mariners over the weekend when Mookie Betts’ solo homer provided the go-ahead run in Sunday’s 2-1 triumph. Boston is on the opposite end of the spectrum from Chicago offensively and leads the majors with 390 runs scored.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network, WPWR (Chicago), NESN (Boston)

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox RH Miguel Gonzalez (1-2, 4.74 ERA) vs. Red Sox RH Steven Wright (8-4, 2.22)

Gonzalez allowed three earned runs or fewer in seven straight appearances before getting knocked around for seven runs on eight hits and four walks in 3 1/3 innings against Detroit on Tuesday. The Mexico native lasted at least six innings in only three of his eight starts. Gonzalez spent his previous four seasons in Baltimore and has always been strong against Boston, posting a 6-1 record with a 3.27 ERA in 12 career games.

Wright is the most reliable member of the Red Sox rotation and leads the American League in ERA. The knuckleballer is riding a streak of five straight wins and yielded a total of seven earned runs in 35 2/3 innings over that span. Wright started at Chicago on May 3 and suffered a loss despite surrendering two runs and three hits in six innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Red Sox reportedly placed OF Rusney Castillo on outright waivers.

2. Chicago 3B Todd Frazier is 0-for-21 with 11 strikeouts in the last six games.

3. Betts drove in a run in each of the last three games and raised his batting average to .295 – its highest point since opening day.

GAME: Tampa Bay Rays (31-36) at Cleveland Indians (38-30)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 20 - 7:10 PM EST
WHERE: Progressive Field, Cleveland, Ohio
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Cleveland Indians have yet to lose a game at home this month and look to continue that dominance when the Tampa Bay Rays pay a visit on Monday for the first of three contests. The Indians edged the Chicago White Sox 3-2 on Sunday for their eighth consecutive victory at Progressive Field while maintaining a one-half game lead atop the American League Central.

Cleveland boasts 14 come-from-behind wins overall, is averaging 5.5 runs at home (20-12) and has been victorious in 10 of 12 games when Monday starter Josh Tomlin takes the mound in 2016. Drew Smyly tries to end a winless streak that has stretched to five contests for the Rays, who are losers of four straight but have been a much better team on the road (16-16) this season. Tampa Bay has gone cold offensively again, struggling at 0-for-20 with runners in scoring position while getting swept of three games at home by San Francisco over the weekend. The Indians took two of three from the Rays in April, allowing a total of one run in the final two contests.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, FSN Sun (Tampa Bay), SportsTime Ohio (Cleveland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rays LH Drew Smyly (2-7, 4.75 ERA) vs. Indians RH Josh Tomlin (8-1, 3.27)

Smyly showed improvement last time out after skipping a start to rest, allowing two runs and four hits with 12 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision. The 27-year-old gave up a homer in that outing, though, and has surrendered eight blasts in his last five turns. Yan Gomes is 4-for-11 with two homers versus Smyly, who is 2-2 with a 3.93 ERA in 14 appearances (four starts) against Cleveland.

Tomlin has permitted two or fewer runs in eight of his 12 starts this season, including last time out as he gave up one in seven innings of a no decision against Kansas City. The Texas Tech product has recorded 50 strikeouts and just seven walks in 74 1/3 frames but has yielded 13 homers. Corey Dickerson is 1-for-2 with a blast against Tomlin, who is 2-2 with a 4.11 ERA in four career starts versus the Rays.

WALK-OFFS

1. Tampa Bay 2B and leadoff batter Logan Forsythe is 10-for-29 with four multi-hit performances in his last six games.

2. Cleveland 3B Jose Uribe went 5-for-9 with two homers, four runs scored and four RBIs in his last two contests after enduring a 1-for-24 slump.

3. Rays 3B Evan Longoria has belted eight homers in his last 14 games and has 17 on the season – four shy of his total for 2015.

GAME: Seattle Mariners (36-33) at Detroit Tigers (34-35)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 20 - 7:10 PM EST
WHERE: Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The slumping Seattle Mariners are hoping to salvage their road trip by taking advantage of the Tigers when they visit Detroit for the opener of a four-game series on Monday. The Mariners dropped two of three at each Tampa Bay and Boston to begin the 10-game excursion and have lost six of their last eight games overall.

Seattle opened up the three-game set against the Red Sox with an 8-4 win on Friday behind a two-homer, six-RBI effort from Franklin Gutierrez but could not find enough offense in the final two games of the series and ended up totaling three runs in the losses. The Mariners are losers of 12 of 18 in June to fall 8 1/2 games behind the Texas Rangers, who are attempting to run away with the American League West. The Tigers were one of four teams fighting over the top spot in the AL Central before three consecutive losses to the Kansas City Royals over the weekend dropped them one game under .500. Detroit surrendered a total of 26 runs in the first two losses and wasted a strong start from Jordan Zimmermann before falling 2-1 in 13 innings on Sunday.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, ROOT (Seattle), FSN Detroit

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mariners RH Nathan Karns (5-2, 4.06 ERA) vs. Tigers RH Mike Pelfrey (1-7, 4.79)

Karns failed to record an out in the sixth inning in five of his last six starts, including the last three. The 28-year-old issued 12 walks in 13 1/3 innings over those three turns but also recorded 18 strikeouts. Karns is making only his third career appearance against Detroit and allowed a total of two runs while walking one and striking out seven over nine innings in the first two chances.

Pelfrey followed up his first win on June 4 with back-to-back losses at the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox. The Wichita State product struggles with his control from time to time as well but doesn’t make up for it with strikeouts like Karns, totaling 30 walks and 35 strikeouts in 71 1/3 total innings this season. Pelfrey is looking for his first career win over the Mariners despite allowing only three runs in 13 1/3 total innings against Seattle.

WALK-OFFS

1. Tigers RHP Bruce Rondon was recalled on Sunday and struck out three in two perfect innings in his season debut.

2. Gutierrez is 7-for-14 with three home runs, seven RBIs and six runs scored in his last three starts.

3. Detroit DH Victor Martinez is 6-for-35 in his last 11 games.

Preview: Cardinals at Cubs

GAME: St. Louis Cardinals (35-33) at Chicago Cubs (47-20)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 20 - 8:05 PM EST
WHERE: Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

While also impressive on the road this season, the Chicago Cubs have taken full advantage of the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, posting a National League-best home record of 25-8. The Cubs look to improve upon that mark when they begin a three-game series against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.

Chicago is coming off a three-game home sweep of Pittsburgh during which it outscored its NL Central rival 20-8 while improving to 11-2 over its last 13 contests in the Windy City. Unlike most teams, the Cardinals have been more comfortable on the road than at home this year, as evidenced by their winless five-game interleague stretch at Busch Stadium that concluded with Sunday's 5-4 loss to Texas. St. Louis is 15-21 in its own ballpark but has won five straight on the road, where it owns a 20-12 mark. The Cardinals are 2-4 against the Cubs this season, with all six contests taking place in St. Louis.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, FSN Midwest (St. Louis), CSN Chicago

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cardinals LH Jaime Garcia (4-6, 3.93 ERA) vs. Cubs RH John Lackey (7-2, 2.66)

Garcia has won just one of his last six starts, suffering his fourth loss in that span after yielding four runs (three earned) and eight hits over 6 1/3 innings against Houston on Tuesday. The outing marked just the second time the 29-year-old Mexican worked more than five frames during his difficult stretch but the fourth time he gave up fewer than four earned runs. Garcia fell to 2-2 in seven career appearances (six starts) against Chicago on April 19, taking the loss after allowing two runs on four hits and four walks in five innings.

Lackey looks to extend his unbeaten streak to seven starts after settling for a no-decision at Washington on Tuesday, when he allowed two runs and four hits in six innings. The 37-year-old Texan has yielded more than two earned runs just once in his last nine turns, with that instance occurring at St. Louis on May 23. Lackey will be making his third career start against the team with which he spent the previous 1 1/2 seasons after going 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 0.71 WHIP in the first two — both of which took place earlier this year.

WALK-OFFS

1. Cubs CF Dexter Fowler did not play Sunday after suffering a right hamstring injury a day earlier and could be headed to the disabled list.

2. St. Louis activated RHP Seth Maness (elbow) from the 15-day disabled list and optioned LHP Dean Kiekhefer to Triple-A Memphis.

3. Chicago C Willson Contreras is expected to make his first career start Monday, one day after receiving his first major league at-bat and belting the first pitch he saw for a two-run homer in a pinch-hitting appearance.

GAME: Baltimore Orioles (40-28) at Texas Rangers (45-25)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 20 - 8:05 PM EST
WHERE: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

A pair of first-place teams will square off Monday in a make-up game when the Texas Rangers host the Baltimore Orioles. The Rangers are squeezing in the contest - which was originally scheduled on April 17 but postponed due to rain - between a 10-game road trip and a two-game series that begins Tuesday at home against Cincinnati.

They capped off the trip with a 5-4 victory at St. Louis, finishing a three-game sweep and setting a new season standard with six straight wins. Opponents have been held to 3.2 runs during the streak, but Texas pitching will be tested against the high-powered Baltimore offense, which cranked out a season-high 19 hits in an 11-6 win over Toronto at home on Sunday. Second baseman Jonathan Schoop homered for the second straight game and has four blasts in his last nine contests for the Orioles. Baltimore left town following the win but will return to Camden Yards on Tuesday to open up a six-game homestand.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, MASN (Baltimore), FSN Southwest (Texas)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Orioles RH Kevin Gausman (0-4, 4.14 ERA) vs. Rangers LH Derek Holland (5-5, 5.14)

Gausman is winless in 11 starts and is coming off his worst outing of the season, a loss at Boston in which he gave up six runs in three innings. That left the 25-year-old at 0-3 with a 4.78 ERA in six road starts this season and 5-15 with a 5.10 mark for his career. Rangers designated hitter Prince Fielder is 4-for-8 with a home run against Gausman, who is 0-1 with a 3.68 ERA in three games (two starts) in his career against Texas.

After posting four straight quality starts, Holland has given up 10 runs (nine earned) in 8 2/3 innings over his last two outings, serving up four home runs in the process. The 29-year-old is 5-2 with a sparkling 2.94 ERA in his career against the Orioles but has never faced them with Mark Trumbo - who is 14-for-45 with five homers against Holland - in the lineup. The Ohio native has enjoyed success against Baltimore slugger Chris Davis (1-for-11, eight strikeouts) and catcher Matt Wieters (2-for-18, five strikeouts).

WALK-OFFS

1. Texas is 16-4 in one-run games -- the best mark in the majors.

2. Orioles 3B Manny Machado will be serving the second of a four-game suspension.

3. Schoop slugged two homers in a win at Texas on April 15.

Preview: Angels at Astros

GAME: Los Angeles Angels (31-38) at Houston Astros (34-36)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 20 - 8:10 PM EST
WHERE: Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Houston Astros made a seemingly innocuous move after falling a season-worst 11 games below .500 late last month, moving George Springer up one spot to bat atop the order. The Astros are 17-8 since making the change and attempt to move to one game of the break-even mark Monday, when they begin a three-game series at home against the Los Angeles Angels.

Houston (34-36) dropped to 17-28 after scoring a total of five runs during a four-game losing streak from May 19-22, prompting manager A.J. Hinch to shake things up and have Springer and Jose Altuve switch spots in the batting order. Although Springer's production actually has declined a bit over the last month and Altuve's power has fallen off considerably, the Astros have climbed from the basement in the American League West to third place and lost only one game on the 10-game division lead AL-best Texas had on them just less than a month ago. Los Angeles has won four of its last five, like Houston, and received stellar pitching during its recent surge, allowing nine runs over that stretch after Jered Weaver tossed a three-hit shutout against Oakland on Sunday. The Angels dropped two of three at home to the Astros from May 27-29, but they will have six opportunities over the next 10 days to change that as the division rivals will meet again early next week in Los Angeles.

TV: 8:10 p.m. ET, FSN West (Los Angeles), ROOT (Houston)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Angels RH Jhoulys Chacin (3-4, 5.00 ERA) vs. Astros RH Doug Fister (7-3, 3.26)

Chacin did just enough to move to 2-2 with Los Angeles since coming over from Atlanta on May 11, picking up the win against Minnesota on Tuesday despite allowing four runs and seven hits over five innings. The 28-year-old Venezuelan is 1-1 with a 7.04 ERA in three June outings, which followed a 10-strikeout masterpiece against Detroit on May 30 in which he tossed a four-hitter for his first complete game since 2011. Chacin settled for a no-decision in his lone career start versus Houston in 2013 but has allowed current Astro hitters to bat .306 against him.

Fister extended his team's winning streak in his starts to nine games in St. Louis on Tuesday after he permitted two runs - both on solo homers - and five hits over 7 1/3 innings. The Fresno State product is 6-0 with a 2.35 ERA since the beginning of May and has allowed three runs or fewer in 12 of his 13 trips to the mound this season. Fister did not factor in the decision versus the Angels on May 29 after yielding three runs (one earned) over six frames and is 2-3 with a 2.74 ERA in 10 career starts against them.

WALK-OFFS

1. Altuve, who is hitting .393 this month, went 6-for-11 against the Angels in the first series between the teams and is a career .351 hitter in 60 career games versus Los Angeles.

2. Angels CF Mike Trout (131) and Springer (95) rank first and third in the majors, respectively, in consecutive games started.

3. Los Angeles DH Albert Pujols' 52 career homers against Houston are the most all-time versus the Astros.

Preview: Nationals at Dodgers

GAME: Washington Nationals (43-27) at Los Angeles Dodgers (38-33)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 20 - 10:10 PM EST
WHERE: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Two of the top starting pitchers in the major leagues square off in Los Angeles on Monday as the Washington Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg faces Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw in the opener of a three-game series. Washington has won 10 of its last 14 contests and leads the National League East by 5 1/2 games over Miami, while the Dodgers are 6 1/2 behind streaking San Francisco in the NL West.

Monday’s series opener is expected to mark the return of Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig, who was batting .237 before landing on the disabled list June 3 with a strained left hamstring. Trayce Thompson has reached base safely in 14 of his last 18 games and figures to receive most of the starts in left field when Puig returns to his spot in right. The Dodgers have won three straight but will be tested by Strasburg and the Nationals, who dropped the final two contests of their four-game series in San Diego over the weekend. Michael Taylor went 4-for-4 with two home runs in Sunday’s 6-3 loss and could receive another start in center field over Ben Revere on Monday against the left-handed Kershaw.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, ESPN, MASN2 (Washington), SportsNet LA (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals RH Stephen Strasburg (10-0, 2.90 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Clayton Kershaw (10-1, 1.58)

Strasburg settled for his fourth no-decision of the season on Wednesday but continued to impress by holding the Chicago Cubs to one run and six hits while walking one and striking out eight over seven frames. The San Diego native is riding a 13-game winning streak dating back to last year, and the Nationals are 17-1 in his last 18 starts. Chase Utley is 4-for-27 with seven strikeouts against Strasburg, who is 1-0 with a 1.71 ERA in four career starts versus the Dodgers.

Kershaw won his eighth straight decision after yielding two runs and recording 11 strikeouts over 7 1/3 innings in Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over Arizona. The three-time NL Cy Young Award winner leads the majors in ERA (1.58), WHIP (0.66), strikeouts (133) and innings pitched (108.0). Bryce Harper is 1-for-12 with a home run and seven strikeouts against Kershaw, who is 9-2 with a 2.09 ERA in 12 career starts against Washington - including 7-0 with a 0.82 ERA over his last seven outings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Dodgers 2B/OF Howie Kendrick is 8-for-18 during his six-game hitting streak.
