My comp play for Monday is to take the points with the home underdog Grizzlies, as they lock to go up 3-1 in their best-of-seven semifinal series with the #1 seed out of the West, the Golden State Warriors.

As you can see, experience does indeed make a difference, as the veteran group the Grizzlies have has indeed done a fine job in shutting the offensive Golden State Warriors down these past pair of games.

Golden State is too good to press the panic button, but even if they are able to come up with the win this Monday night, I have a feeling that this one is going right down to the wire.

Giving Memphis +5 points is absolutely insane, as the Grizzlies are now on a 5-0-1 home spread run their last 6 games on their hardwood, and in this series they have covered 9 of the past 13 meetings.

Take the points as the Grizzlies continue to be "sticky" for the Warriors.

The Nationals are going to put max Scherzer on the mound tonight Vs. Arizona...When we look at Max overall this year his record is 2-3...His ERA is just at 2.10....The fact about Scherzer and his losing record is due to the lack of run support he has gotten this year....In the 6 games he pitched including the (no dec.) the Nationals have plated only 19 runs. His 3 losses came with only two runs combined..So it's not really Scherzer that's the issue. His worst game was in fact his last game..He gave up 10 hits and 5ER...His ERA prior to that outing was 1.26...Now the Nats have been on a bit of a tear as of the last 12 games...They are 10-2 and hitting the ball great right now..They have scored a combined 29 runs in just 4 games..Harper is a man on a mission right now and the Nationals would love to give Scherzer some help here with a road start...Max hasn't won a road game yet this year..Add in the fact his worst game was his last and i expect the Nationals at worst to keep this game very close...Arizona will counter with Collmenter today....I have nothing bad to say about him really for this year..He has looked solid in some games and in others subpar..His ERA is 3.40 and his WHIP is 1.18..Collmenter does his best to avoid giving up walks as well...He makes you earn the base against him and just simply doesn't walk many batters.....He has just 1 win in 4 attempts at home right now...He has given up 17 runs and 30 hits in the 4 games at home...he just like Scherzer pitched his worst game of the season last game giving up 10 hits and 5ER in 7 innings of work...Both pitchers are solid, but i have to give the nod to Mad Max here even on the road...Bryce Harper the last 7 days is batting .400+...Harper has 11 hits and 6 of them being HR...He is really feeling the long ball right now and the guys ahead of him are getting on base as well...Zimmerman has looked good over the last week as well and Wislon Ramos is now on a 13 game hitting streak..Ramos is batting a .327 from the 6 hole for the year....I can't go against this hot lineup right now and Scherzer coming off his worst game of the season...This number fair at best, but i will bite on this one with the Nationals today.

Pittsburgh at Philadelphia

When: 7:05 PM ET, Monday, May 11, 2015
Where: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
By SportsDirect Inc.

Gerrit Cole looks to start a new winning streak and the Pittsburgh Pirates hope to build off a strong weekend when they open a four-game series Monday at the Philadelphia Phillies. The Pirates snapped a five-game losing streak Thursday and then took two of three from National League Central leader St. Louis to move within one game of .500.

Pittsburgh’s Jung Ho Kang has heated up after starting his rookie season 1-for-13, hitting .429 with two homers and nine RBIs in his past 12 games. Kang collected two hits and belted his second homer of the season in Sunday’s 4-3 victory over the Cardinals. The Phillies are 10 games under .500 following Sunday’s 7-4 loss to the New York Mets, the earliest Philadelphia has been that far south of .500 since 2002. Second baseman Chase Utley went 1-for-3 Sunday, but is 4-for-43 in 12 games since April 25.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, ROOT (Pittsburgh), CSN Philadelphia

PITCHING MATCHUP: Pirates RH Gerrit Cole (4-1, 2.27 ERA) vs. Phillies RH Jerome Williams (2-2, 5.18)

Cole did not pitch badly in Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to the Reds, allowing three earned runs on eight hits in five innings. He posted a 1.05 ERA in his previous four starts -- all wins -- striking out 29 while surrendering three earned runs in 25 2/3 innings. Cole is 1-1 in two career starts against Philadelphia, holding the Phillies to one hit in five shutout innings in his only 2014 appearance against them.

Williams endured his worst start of 2015 Wednesday at Atlanta, giving up six runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings. The 33-year-old, who makes his 199th major-league appearance, is 6-4 with a 3.69 ERA in 15 starts since the Phillies signed him off waivers last August. Williams makes his seventh career start against Pittsburgh, going 1-4 with a 4.37 ERA in his previous six outings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Cole is holding opponents to a .226 batting average and has been difficult on both left-handers (.227) and right-handers (.225).

2. The next save by Philadelphia closer Jonathan Papelbon will be his 113th in a Phillies uniform, moving him past Jose Mesa into first place on the all-time franchise list.

3. The Pirates have won 14 of their past 21 matchups with the Phillies.

Toronto at Baltimore

When: 7:05 PM ET, Monday, May 11, 2015
Where: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland
By SportsDirect Inc.

The city of Baltimore is unlikely to get back to business as usual anytime soon, but the Orioles will try to aid that process as they play in front of their fans for the first time in over two weeks on Monday when they open a three-game set against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Orioles wrapped up the first third of what was supposed to be a nine-game homestand on April 26, but rioting in Baltimore caused two postponements and another home game to be played in front of an empty stadium.

The Orioles played out the final leg of their homestand in Tampa Bay due to the civil unrest – winning two of three versus the Rays – but will return to Camden Yards hoping to turn things around after going 1-5 in New York against the Mets and Yankees. The Orioles haven’t had much luck this season versus Toronto, giving up 47 runs while losing five of six. The Blue Jays are coming off a 4-2 homestand, allowing one run or less in each of their wins while taking two of three from the Yankees and Boston Red Sox. Toronto outscored its opponents 19-2 during a three-game winning streak, but saw its bid for a season-high fourth straight victory snapped Sunday in a 6-3 setback versus Boston.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, SNET (Toronto) MASN (Baltimore)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays RH Marco Estrada (1-1, 2.93 ERA) vs. Orioles RH Ubaldo Jimenez (2-2, 2.36)

Making his first start of the season in place of recently-demoted rookie left-hander Daniel Norris, Estrada was tagged for five runs (four earned) over 4 2/3 innings in Tuesday’s 6-3 loss to the Yankees. The Long Beach State product, who served up a league-worst 29 homers last season, had permitted only one run in 10 2/3 relief innings after joining the Blue Jays following a November trade with the Milwaukee Brewers. Estrada’s only two career appearances versus Baltimore came last month, when he yielded a run over two one-inning outings.

Jimenez continued his road struggles, falling to 0-2 with a 4.97 ERA in three turns away from home following Wednesday’s 5-1 loss to the Mets. The 31-year-old Dominican, who has yet to yield an earned run in 14 frames at home, gave up three runs on six hits and a pair of walks over four innings in his last outing. Jimenez has already faced Toronto twice this season, allowing one hit and fanning eight over seven scoreless innings during a win in his season debut on April 11 before allowing four runs over five frames in a loss 11 days later.

WALK-OFFS

1. Toronto has scored at least 10 runs in six games this season, half of which have come against Baltimore.

2. The Orioles, who struck out 18 times in Sunday’s loss to the Yankees, have fanned 87 times in nine games in May – the second-highest total in the American League over that span.

3. The Blue Jays placed OF Michael Saunders on the disabled list Sunday with left knee inflammation and recalled INF/OF Steve Tolleson from Triple-A Buffalo.

PREDICTION: Orioles 6, Blue Jays 2

NY Mets at Chi. Cubs

When: 8:05 PM ET, Monday, May 11, 2015
Where: Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois
By SportsDirect Inc.

The surprising New York Mets seem to have rebounded from their first rough patch of the season and aim for their third straight win and their fifth in six games when they open a four-game road series against the Chicago Cubs on Monday. The Mets lost three straight series before sweeping two games from Baltimore and taking two of three in Philadelphia over the weekend.

The Cubs return home after a rocky road trip in which they lost five of seven to division rivals St. Louis and Milwaukee. Chicago has dropped seven of its last nine overall and has lost three straight series. Mets' right-hander Jacob deGrom aims for his first road win of the season after ending up on the losing end of his first two starts away from home. New York has won only one series at Wrigley Field since 2007.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, SNY (New York), CSN Chicago

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Jacob deGrom 3-3, 2.95 ERA) vs. Cubs LH Jon Lester (2-2, 4.04)

After losing consecutive starts, deGrom bounced back in a big way last time out. The 26-year-old piled up a season-high nine strikeouts and allowed one run over seven innings to beat Baltimore. The only previous time deGrom faced the Cubs was June 5 of last season, when he allowed four runs in five innings in a no-decision at Wrigley Field.

Lester aims to win his third straight start after a pair of solid outings against division rivals. The 31-year-old threw seven scoreless innings against Milwaukee on May 1 and followed it up with a win over St. Louis on Wednesday, allowing four runs (one earned) over seven frames. Lester has faced the Mets only once — as a rookie in 2006 — and allowed two runs over five innings to earn the win.

WALK-OFFS

1. New York CF Juan Lagares is hitting just .238 on the road compared to .328 at home.

2. The Cubs are 12-2 when their starter records a quality start and 3-13 when they fail to do so.

3. Mets OF Curtis Granderson, who homered on Sunday, is 11-for-40 with 15 strikeouts versus Lester.

Boston at Oakland

When: 10:05 PM ET, Monday, May 11, 2015
Where: O.co Coliseum, Oakland, California
By SportsDirect Inc.

Rick Porcello attempts to produce his third consecutive stellar effort when the Boston Red Sox open a three-game series against the host Oakland Athletics on Monday. Porcello has allowed one run over 14 innings in the strong outings while defeating Toronto and Tampa Bay.

Scott Kazmir will be on the mound for the Athletics, and that will be a pleasing sight to Boston's Dustin Pedroia, who hasn’t had a multi-hit performance this month. Pedroia is 19-for-38 with five doubles, one triple and two homers against Kazmir while also drawing nine walks. The Red Sox had lost seven of eight games this month before beating Toronto 6-3 on Sunday behind a three-run homer by Mike Napoli and a two-run blast by Pablo Sandoval. Oakland has been outscored 34-13 during its five-game losing streak.

TV: 10:05 p.m. ET, NESN (Boston), CSN California (Oakland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox RH Rick Porcello (3-2, 4.38 ERA) vs. Athletics LH Scott Kazmir (2-1, 2.75)

Porcello scattered eight hits over seven scoreless innings against Tampa Bay in his last outing after allowing one run and two hits versus Toronto in his previous turn. He hasn’t fared well on the road thus far, going 0-1 with a 5.25 ERA in two starts. Porcello is 4-5 with a 3.73 ERA in 11 career appearances (10 starts) against Oakland.

Kazmir is coming off his worst outing of the season as he was torched for six runs and seven hits in six innings while losing to Minnesota. He has given up nine runs in 12 frames over his last two turns after allowing just three in his first four starts. Kazmir is 9-8 with a 3.98 ERA in 27 career starts against Boston.

WALK-OFFS

1. RHP Edward Mujica will be available for Oakland after being acquired from the Red Sox on Saturday.

2. Boston OF Shane Victorino (hamstring) is slated to be activated from the disabled list prior to Monday’s contest.

3. Athletics DH Billy Butler is batting .347 with four doubles and one homer in 49 career at-bats against Porcello.

Much is made of Johnny Cueto’s pending free-agent status, but there is another right-hander for the Cincinnati Reds who stands to be a big catch in the offseason. Mike Leake takes the mound Monday as the Reds host the Atlanta Braves in the opener of a three-game series, possessing a 16-inning scoreless streak after back-to-back outstanding eight-inning performances.

Like Cueto, Leake will be a free agent at season’s end, but his opposite number on Monday looks right at home after his first six starts with Atlanta. Shelby Miller fired a three-hit shutout in his last outing and is tied with Pittsburgh’s A.J. Burnett for second in the National League in ERA. Cincinnati dropped three of its final four games of a 5-5 road trip and saw closer Aroldis Chapman allow his first earned run of 2015 in Sunday’s 4-3 loss to the White Sox. Atlanta opened a 10-game road swing by getting swept at Washington, blowing a late lead in Sunday’s 5-4 defeat to lose for the eighth time in 12 games.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, ESPN, SportSouth (Atlanta), FSN Ohio (Cincinnati)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Braves RH Shelby Miller (4-1, 1.66 ERA) vs. Reds RH Mike Leake (2-1, 2.47)

Miller’s third career shutout was arguably the Braves’ best start so far this season: he needed just 99 pitches Wednesday to beat the Phillies, issuing one walk while striking out eight. He has won four of his past five starts, the lone loss coming to the Reds on April 30 in Atlanta (two earned runs on six hits in seven innings). Miller has struck out 17 hitters against four walks and nine hits in his past 16 innings.

Leake already has shown his durability through his first six starts, pitching seven innings or more in his past five outings. He smothered the Braves in a victory April 30 in Atlanta, giving up just two hits in eight innings while slugging his fifth career homer. Leake, tied for seventh in the National League in innings pitched (43 2/3) and fourth in the majors with a 0.87 WHIP, is 4-2 in seven career starts against the Braves with a 2.03 ERA.

WALK-OFFS

1. Atlanta RHP Cody Martin took the loss Saturday and Sunday, allowing a combined four runs on six hits in two innings.

2. Reds CF Billy Hamilton finished the road trip 7-for-40, striking out three times while going 0-for-5 Sunday.

3. Cincinnati SS Zack Cozart was caught stealing Sunday, just the third time in 40 attempts this season a Reds’ baserunner has been thrown out trying to steal.

Preview: White Sox at Brewers

GAME: Chicago White Sox (12-16) at Milwaukee Brewers (11-21)
DATE/TIME: Monday, May 11 - 7:20 PM EST
WHERE: Miller Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
LINE: -110, 102 TOTAL: 8

Starter Jeff Samardzija returns from a suspension as the Chicago White Sox open a three-game road series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. Samardzija received a five-game suspension due to his involvement in an on-field incident against Kansas City on April 23 and began serving his penalty last Wednesday.

Samardzija will be aiming to help the White Sox get a rare road win as Chicago’s 2-11 mark is the worst in the majors. The White Sox (99) are the only American League team yet to reach 100 runs scored but did score 16 runs while taking two of three games from Cincinnati over the weekend. Milwaukee is attempting to recover from a slow start and has won six of its last nine games – four against the Chicago Cubs. The Brewers hit seven homers and went 11-for-21 with runners in scoring position while winning two of three from the Cubs over the weekend.

TV: 7:20 p.m. ET, WPWR (Chicago), FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox RH Jeff Samardzija (2-2, 4.38 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Wily Peralta (1-4, 3.92)

Samardzija has been solid in three of his last four turns and horrible in the other. He was touched up for eight runs (seven earned) and 10 hits in five innings in a loss to Baltimore on April 29 and bounced back to allow two runs and seven hits in seven innings to beat Detroit last Tuesday. Samardzija is 2-6 with a 4.55 ERA in 22 career appearances (eight starts) against Milwaukee.

Peralta lost his first four decisions before emerging victorious in his last start. He gave up two earned runs and seven hits in a season-high eight innings while beating the Los Angeles Dodgers last Wednesday and has allowed just five runs in his last three outings. Peralta, who has never faced the White Sox, has lost both of his road starts this season.

WALK-OFFS

1. Brewers RF Ryan Braun is 9-for-18 with three homers against Samardzija.

2. The White Sox have won 10 of the past 12 meetings.

3. Milwaukee 3B Aramis Ramirez (back) likely will miss his fourth consecutive game.

Preview: Nationals at Diamondbacks

GAME: Washington Nationals (17-15) at Arizona Diamondbacks (14-16)
DATE/TIME: Monday, May 11 - 9:40 PM EST
WHERE: Chase Field, Phoenix, Arizona
LINE: -133, 123 N/A TOTAL: N/A

Bryce Harper looks to inflict some more damage with his hot bat when the Washington Nationals open a three-game series against the host Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. Harper is 10-for-16 with six home runs and 13 RBIs over his last four games while Washington is sailing with 10 victories in its last 12.

Harper didn’t go deep in Sunday’s contest as the Nationals completed a three-game sweep of the Atlanta Braves. But the right fielder did hit three homers on Wednesday against the Miami Marlins and then blasted three in the first two contests versus Atlanta. Max Scherzer was moved up a day to start on Monday as Nationals star Stephen Strasburg is dealing with a shoulder issue. Arizona gained a four-game split with San Diego on Sunday as Aaron Hill and A.J. Pollock each hit solo homers in a 2-1 victory.

TV: 9:40 p.m. ET, MASN2 (Washington), FSN Arizona

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals RH Max Scherzer (2-3, 2.11 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks RH Josh Collmenter (3-3, 3.40)

Scherzer has pitched in bad luck most of the season, then picked up in a win on Wednesday against Miami while having his worst performance. He gave up five runs and 10 hits in seven innings versus the Marlins after allowing just five earned runs over his first five starts. Scherzer, who started his career with Arizona, defeated the Diamondbacks as a member of the Detroit Tigers in 2010, when he gave up one run and four hits in seven frames.

Collmenter is looking for his third consecutive victory after defeating Colorado in each of his last two turns. He gave up five runs and 10 hits – including three homers – in seven innings while beating the Rockies on Wednesday. Collmenter is 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA in four career appearances (two starts) against the Nationals.

WALK-OFFS

1. Washington went 6-1 against the Diamondbacks last season.

2. Arizona 1B Paul Goldschmidt went hitless in three at-bats on Sunday but is 22-for-50 with four homers and 11 RBIs over his last 12 games.

3. Harper is batting .325 in 40 career at-bats against Arizona but hasn’t hit a homer.

Preview: Marlins at Dodgers

GAME: Miami Marlins (15-17) at Los Angeles Dodgers (20-10)
DATE/TIME: Monday, May 11 - 10:10 PM EST
WHERE: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California
LINE: 195, -213 TOTAL: 7

The Los Angeles Dodgers attempt to extend their winning streak to four games when they begin a seven-game homestand with the opener of a three-game series against the Miami Marlins on Monday. Los Angeles routed Milwaukee in the finale of their four-game set before sweeping an abbreviated two-game series at Colorado to finish its road trip with a 4-2 record.

The Dodgers completed the trek with a 9-5 comeback victory on Sunday as Adrian Gonzalez delivered a three-run double in the fifth inning to forge a 5-5 tie before capping a four-run eighth with a sacrifice fly. While Los Angeles returns to the comforts of home, Miami continues its 10-game road trip during which it has gone 3-4 thus far. The Marlins dropped the rubber match of a three-game set in San Francisco on Sunday, losing 3-2 as closer Steve Cishek squandered a one-run lead in the ninth by issuing a two-out, bases-loaded walk before yielding the winning RBI single by Matt Duffy. The Dodgers and Marlins are meeting for the first time since pulling off a seven-player trade in December that featured Dee Gordon, who returned from a two-game absence due to a tight hamstring to go 2-for-4 on Sunday and raise his major league-leading average to .439.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, FSN Florida (Miami), SportsNet LA (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH Tom Koehler (2-3, 5.18 ERA) vs. Dodgers RH Zack Greinke (5-0, 1.56)

Koehler was unable to toss another gem against the Nationals on Wednesday, as he was tagged for five runs and seven hits - including three homers by Bryce Harper - over six innings in Washington after working 7 1/3 scoreless frames versus his National League East rivals at home on April 25. The 28-year-old has struggled on the road this season, going 1-2 with an 8.59 ERA in three outings. Koehler owns the same record in three career starts against Los Angeles but a much lower ERA (3.45).

Koehler will need to raise his game as he opposes Greinke, who is coming off a masterful outing at Milwaukee on Tuesday in which he allowed an unearned run on two hits and two walks over 7 2/3 innings. It was the fifth consecutive victory for the 31-year-old Greinke - and sixth time in as many turns this season he has yielded three runs or fewer. The native of Florida has yet to lose to the Marlins in his career, going 3-0 with a 3.97 ERA in six games (five starts).

WALK-OFFS

1. Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton received Sunday off as he is mired in a 4-for-25 slump but will be back in the lineup for the series opener as he is a .333 (31-for-93) career hitter against the Dodgers.

2. Gordon is riding a 13-game hitting streak during which he has posted 10 multi-hit performances. He has gone hitless in just three of his 29 games this season.

3. Los Angeles OF Yasiel Puig, who aggravated a hamstring injury on Friday during a rehab assignment with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, will undergo an MRI exam on Monday. Manager Don Mattingly originally stated the test was to take place Sunday.

Tampa Bay Rays

I won with the Yankees yesterday, Pineda's 16 K's also helping me win big at DFS (Daily Fantasy). This isn't nearly as favorable a matchup though.

Some will see Sabathia vs lesser known Colomé & be quick to back the visitors. This isn't the Sabathia of years past though; he's 0-5 w/ a 5.45 ERA, 6.75 his L3. For the season, he's allowing more than 11 hits per 9 innings. Speaking of Sabathia being "very hittable," note that the Rays roughed him up the last time they saw him; he lasted only 3 2/3 innings and gave up five runs on 10 hits.

Meanwhile, Colomé happens to quietly be pitching very well. For the season, he's 2-0 w/ a 1.80 ERA. He's also got a 0.00 ERA in two starts vs. the Yankees. In his lone 2014 start against them, Colomé allowed six hits through 6 2/3 scoreless innings.

White Sox/ Brewers Under

This is an Interleague matchup between two bad teams that aren't scoring many runs this season. Chicago has scored the fewest runs in the American League and faces a disadvantage here by losing the DH spot in the lineup. I had the Under in their 4-3 walkoff win over the Reds Sunday. Same thing here.

The Brew Crew snapped a streak of five straight Overs yday w/ a 3-2 win over the Cubs. It took 11 innings. Starter Wily Peralta should take care of business for them here as he's made three straight quality starts. Opponents are batting above .300 against him, but he has little to fear here against a White Sox team averaging just 2.8 runs per game on the road while batting a collective .238.

Jeff Samardzija gets the baseball for the visitors and three of his past four starts have been good. Last time out, he went seven strong innings and allowed just two runs. Samardzija will be more rested than usual after serving a five-game suspension. This Brewers lineup hasn't given Peralta much run support, averaging just 2.08 runs per game. This should be a low-scoring game.
