VANCOUVER (CP) - The Toronto Maple Leafs could be without three of their top scorers when they play the Vancouver Canucks in an NHL New Year's Eve game Tuesday.
Alexander Mogilny (back), who leads the Leafs with 41 points, captain Mats Sundin (shoulder), the team's top goal scorer with 18, and winger Mikael Renberg (infected finger) are all questionable.

None of the hurting Toronto players skated in practice Monday.

Renberg was taken to hospital with a finger that became infected after being cut while tying up his skate laces.

Sundin said he wanted to skate Monday, but the team told him to take another day off.

"I'll skate tomorrow morning and see how it feels," he said.

"It feels a lot better today. We'll see. It's impossible to say. I haven't skated since it happened."

Mogilny said he's day to day.

"Right now it's a little sore," he said. "It's frustrating but something I have to deal with."

Sundin missed the Leafs' 3-2 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers Saturday after injuring his left shoulder the previous night in Calgary. That ended a 269 consecutive-game streak that stretched back to November 1999.

"I've been fortunate in my career," he said. "Hopefully I'll continue that way.

"It's always frustrating to watch, especially when this is an important stretch of games for us on the road and we're in the heat of the battle to try and secure a playoff spot."

Mogilny also was hurt against the Oilers when a chronic back problem flared up again following a collision with teammate Bryan McCabe during the overtime. Mogilny, a former Canuck, said he's suffered back problems since a Brad Stuart hit 11 months ago that sidelined him for six weeks.

Renberg is fourth among Leaf scorers with 11 goals and 23 points.

Between them, Mogilny, Sundin and Renberg have combined for 45 of Toronto's 106 goals.
