Vancouver vs Columbus
- surprising odds here as I expected something like 2.25 like when Vancouver hosted San Jose and Philadelphia but we get a 2.60? Vancouver very tough to beat at home, 2-5-1, and shutout Philly here a few weeks ago. I consider Vancouver as one of the worst teams in MLS and their record proves that but since they lost the Canadian title they can put full focus now on MLS. I'm optimistic at least 2 of the 4 injured players (demerit, thorrington, chiumiento, harris) will be available and Vancouver will be hosting a team with several missing starters. The Crew were embarrassed 2-0 in Dallas in a match that wasn't as close as the score and lost 3 players in the game. Their best MF, Ekpo, is suspended along with Andy Iro while their tremendous rookie Balchan pulled his groin vs Dallas. Both teams have been very busy and this will be 3rd match in a week for both so the team with the travel (columbus) is in a big disadvantage. Ekpo has played in all 17 games, Balchan 16, and Iro had just gotten a shot to retain his job in place of Julius James. While I really can't take the Whitecaps with more than 2 unit bet it's worth reiterating just how bad the Crew have been when traveling a good distance. The Crew are now 0-3-9 7/24 when playing an away match at least 2 time zones to their West including 7 straight losses. Only 1 team has beaten the Caps at home all year and Dallas had to come from behind to do it and even though I don't think much of Vancouver, especially without Chiumiento, Columbus simply shouldn't be favored to win.

no good news to report in Vancouver. Chiumiento will not start, likely will be on bench while DeMerit and Harris are definitely out. Making matters worse is that their top scorer, Eric Hassli, hurt himself in Tuesday's practice and is a game-time decision. The crew will also be without Francis and Renteria, both starters, so both squads down to bare bones but Chiumiento, Hassli, and Demerit would be 3 of the Whitecaps' top 4 players. If Hassli doesn't play they'll likely have to shutout the Crew to win 1-0 but we'll see

may have a pick in KC later...trying to confirm Rapids' traveling squad

Colorado vs Vancouver
- Rapids haven't used same lineup in b2b games this year and again won't with Mastroeni suspended. Good news is that casey/cummings are back together up front after playing together for just 188 minutes all season. Colorado simply dominated the Dynamo on July 3 and never allowed a shot on goal but were too wasteful with chances and drew...again. Then drew in midweek...again. Vancouver had the midweek game won but missed a penalty in 73rd then had Salinas sent off before Cbus popped in a last-minute winner making it 10 matches that I've had money taken from me in final 10 minutes of play this MLS season. Anyway, Vancouver not playing Hassli, Thorrington, Harris, DeMerit, and will start Chiumiento from bench. They're 0-3-7 away and aren't going to like the altitude much. Getting close to "must win" time for the champs...

Colorado 3.5u -150

RBNY vs DC United

- Red Bulls will really miss suspended Tainio as he's quickly become the league's top holding mf. His replacement, Ballouchy, can't defend the middle well so Red Bulls will have to put up some serious goals to win this one, which should be done against the porous DC defense who are missing 3 regulars. Mendes again in central defense for NY in place of Marquez and he can't handle Davies and De Rosario, so I fully expect DC to score. Given the Red Bulls' history of conceding at home I wouldn't even be shocked if DC surprised with a win, especially against a NY team that has been playing a lot of games on both sides of the continent and coming in off a short week without two best defensive players. Should see a lot of goals in this one

RBNY/DC over 2.5 5u -110

for vancouver now chiumiento ruled out as well. just can't see them scoring with camilo and the young'n up front. wouldn't be surprised with a rapids coming out party tonight to the tune of 3-0

Portland vs Seattle
- not a single logical reason to bet on Portland...purely a gut play that this awful and very desperate team rises to the occassion against their biggest rival.
