bad start to the year but should have never lost the SJ game...

San Jose vs Houston
- San Jose played well last week but lost 1-0. The goal was the only shot on goal NE had all night and resulted from a bad bounce off a SJ defender's head. SOG were 6-1 and total shots 19-7 with 12-6 corners edge for the Earthquakes. I look for them to play equally well this week and Houston with several important missings. Their top central defender, Robinson, is out as are both strikers Ching (US national team) and Kamara (suspended). They have absolutely no depth at striker so will be much weaker up front.
San Jose PK 4u -125

Seattle vs Real Salt Lake
- Seattle played very well last week, feeding off the huge crowd for their 1st ever match as a franchise. This week they are still at home but won't have that same energy. Ljungberg will start on the bench but is expected to see some time in the 2nd half though Jarrod Smith is out on national duty. RSL are a very solid club though not particularly strong on the road. Still, they are one of the top teams in the west and should not be a full 1/2 ball underdog against one of the worst teams in the league. No international missings for RSL but defender Ian Joy and striker Luis Miguel Escalada are both out, injured. RSL had a great preseason and should be able to get at least a point in this one.
RSL +.5 4.25u -115

might as well toss my USA thoughts in here...no sense opening a new thread

USA vs El Salvador
-El Salvador have not scored against the USA in 7 matches losing all 7 by a 18-0 scoreline. You have to go back to 1997 to find the last time they did score, in a 4-2 loss, and all the way back to 1992 to find the last time the USA lost match vs El Salvador. Clearly there is a big level difference between these teams so I am very comfortable in thinking El Salvador will not score. The US play very defensively in any road match whether a qualifier or friendly. Other than the 3-0 result in Poland last year you'll see nothing but unders in away games with 3 successive 1-0 road results in qualifiers that mattered. Their MO is to defend and control possession and, if they do grab a goal, defend that 1-0 result. The 2-1 loss to TNT was a function of the US sending mainly reserve players because they were already qualified while TNT needed the win to make the final 8. Even with that the match was 0-0 for an hour.

2008
1-0 at Guatemala
1-0 at Barbados
1-0 at Cuba
1-2 at TNT (TNT needed match, was meaningless for USA)
0-1 at Spain
0-2 at England
3-0 at Poland

2007
1-0 at South Africa
1-0 at Swiss
0-1 at Sweden
0-0 at Guatemala

USA/El Sal under 2.5 goals 4u -130
