saturday's mlb detailed comp... it's a growling dog winner HOUSTON ASTROS @ CINCINNATI REDS
SAT 1:15 PM EST
At this point in the season it pairs up two of the best teams record
wise in the National League. Both the Astros and the Reds can easily be
described as surprising. Houston spent a great deal of time wondering
whether or not "The Rocket" would return, and as you will see, pitching has
not always been their problem. The Redlegs on the other hand seem to be a
team of the future, adding 10+ wins to their resume each of the last two
seasons. Both teams are playing at a 8-2 clip at the time of this writing,
but the STROS fashioned this mostly at home, and are 3-2 on the road.
Houston will send out Andy Pettite who has truly struggled this year,
not always because he hasn't pitched well, but because he has gotten no
support with the bat. The best example is last time out he carried a
no-hitter into the 7th inning, only to see his club lose, and get a no
decision. Still he is 1-3 with a 4.35 ERA, but has not shown to be the
Andy of old. 36 hits in 31 innings, with 6 homers and one walk to every two
strikeout ratio. Teams are roughing him up for a .295 batting average.
His mound opponent, Aaron Harang (6-7 270), is off to the best start of
his career at 3-1 with a 1.33 WHIP and only one walk for every three
strikeouts. He just threw a complete game against the Milwaukee Brewers,
and with the exception of one of his five starts, he has gone into the 6th+
every time. RED ZONE SPORTS loves the underdog. Take the Reds + 105 who are 7-3 their last 10 at home
and watch them put sufficient runs up against Andy Pettite and win.
