This is definitely a contrarian bet when you look at what makes Mississippi State (Under 13-6) tick. They’re slow as molasses, and they’re No. 11 in defensive efficiency according to Ken Pomeroy’s charts, compared to No. 168 on offense. The Crimson Tide (9-9-1 Totals) also have an offense/defense imbalance, but it’s not nearly as pronounced as MSU’s, checking in at No. 13 overall in the former category and fifth in the latter. The Tide are also lightning-fast at No. 4 in Adjusted Tempo, getting in nearly 74 possessions per game. That should give ‘Bama ample opportunity to load up on 3-pointers and free throws, as they are wont to do.
