thanks for the plays roll. Any additional thoughts at all on your USA and Mexico Asian Handicap plays you posted in pops thread? Both teams have some key omission's from their squad's due to various reasons and Mexico has their place in the hex already locked up. I think any 11 players on the Mex national team should be able to punish Guyana in a "home" game in Houston and the fact the line has taken off seems to reflect that line of thinking. The USA line hasn't moved at all this week which is a little bothersome for now and Klinsi seems to be expecting a park the bus mentality from A&B with the hopes of sneaking in one or two off of crosses/set pieces (see EJ and Alan Gordon selections).

mutiny, happy to share my writeups but these were done on Oct 8 and prices have moved considerably. (The US writeup was done before Klinsmann chose squad without Jozy and before Fabian got sick...)

Guyana vs Mexico
- in match at Mexico City the Mexicans had odds of 1.02-1.03 and despite playing really poorly won 3-1. From there the Guyana club lost at home to both Costa Rica and El Salvador and had a miracle draw away to the Salvadorans while Mexico shutout Costa Rica twice and beat El Salvador away. Guyana have no stadium that meet regulations and would make more money with neutral field so agreed to play match in Houston (USA) which is really Mexico's home away from home. I'd even say there isn't much difference playing in Mexico or Houston for El Tri except for altitude so I can't price this match beyond 1.10 so a solid -2.25 or -2.50 handicap. Perhaps Mexico price is because they've already qualified to final phase but coach selected a normal squad, not B or C team, with tons of talent. As they pack Reliant Stadium for every friendly they play in Houston they will have capacity for the much smaller BBVA Compass Stadium which is the new facility for Houston Dynamo. If anything it will be louder and more intimidating as fans are on top of field unlike Reliant or most Mexican venues. Really the only big name Mexican missing besides Gio is gk Ochoa who has French immigration meeting and cannot attend. Other than that is full squad including 11 Mexican-based players and all the regular suspects from Europe like Chicharito, Moreno, Rodriguez, Guardado. In fact the only players on squad without a cap is Pachuca's Herrera and Leon's Pena. Guyana a horrible defensive team and I just don't see how they'll stay within 2 goals of el Tri. Take straight win as banker and HC with good stake.

USA vs Antigua and Barbuda
- should be a simple week for USA with matches against A&B away then Guatemala in KC. They are tied with Jamaica and Guate with 7 points and they can wrap up a hexagonal spot with these two expected wins. I attended the home match and USA certainly took A&B very lightly in 3-1 home win but away team also helped by the heavy downpour through most of the match. A&B made up largely of Antigua Barracuda team, the worst squad in 3rd division of American football. Somehow A&B's cricket pitch was approved for these qualifiers and it is said to be in rough shape so that's the only real concern i have for USA not winning by 2+. Match will be heated as Antigua have never hosted USA in any sport before but quality difference is massive and USA will not allow A&B to derail their qualifying. US have been terrible defending free kicks (3 of 4 goals allowed were on fk's) but that is easy to correct. USA likely without mf Donovan but he also missed the last two WC qualifiers and they'll have Michael Bradley ready for this match. Of course Europeans like Dempsey, Johnson, Williams, Altidore are ready to go and the local guys are all playing well. USA lost in Jamaica due to 2 free kick goals and that was first time they failed against a Caribbean team since TnT in 2008...and Puerto Rico in 1979 before that (so just 2 losses to Caribbean teams in 33 years. USA do have a long history of securing 1 goal away wins in qualifying but many of those are 2nd legs after a massive 1st leg win and not when they're in a dogfight to advance. I have trust in Klinsmann and the squad to make things easy on themselves but must survive the first 15 minutes where A&B will be really fired up. After that, it should be all USA

lol...

Guyana manager Jamaal Shabazz will miss his side’sWorld Cup qualifying match against Mexico in Houston due to "personal reasons," although he intends to fulfill his coaching responsibilities on Skype.
According to Shabazz’s assistant, Wayne Dover, the team will use an alternate strategy that will allow Shabazz to control Guyana’s in-game strategy at the BBVA Compass Stadium.
"There are technology systems [Skype] that will allow him to communicate with the group," said Dover. "The players here know the style of play"

Mexico head coach Jose Manuel de la Torre has released his lineup for Friday’s world cup qualification match against Guyana. According to ESPN Deportes' John Sutcliffe, De la Torre will field an offensive team that is looking to bring maximum scoring to the Houston fans in attendance. Mexico will face Guyana at the BBVA Compass stadium, home of Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo.
CF Monterrey’s Jonathan Orozco gets to start defending El Tri’s net. Orozco stepped in for AC Ajaccio’s Guillermo Ochoa who could not attend the game. On the bench as back-up keeper is Toluca FC’s Alfredo Talavera.
In center defense De la Torre has gone with Vfb Stuttgart defender Francisco Rodriguez and RCD Espanyol’s Hector Moreno. On the flanks he stationed Jorge Torres-Nilo of Tigres UANL on the left, and Severo Meza of CF Monterrey on the right.
In charge of recovering and defending is El Tri and Cruz Azul veteran Gerardo Torrado. The next line has three players with CF Valencia winger Andres Guardado on the left and Olympic gold medalist Javier Aquino on the right. In the center-midfield position is Toluca’s Antonio Naelson Zinha who returns to the lineup to distribute plays to the strikers.
Up front De la Torre has Oribe Peralta of Club Santos Laguna, also an Olympic gold medalist. Partnering with Peralta is Manchester United’s Javier “chicharito” Hernandez. With the 4-1-3-2 lineup De la Torre is looking to score as many goals as possible.

funny i see forum jokers and press labeling mexico's team as an "experimental side"...

Orozco (Monterrey)
Nilo (Tigres) - Rodriguez (Stuttgart) - Moreno (Espanyol) - Meza (Monterrey)
Guardado (Valencia) - Zinha (Toluca) Torrado (Cruz Azul) - Aquino (Cruz Azul)
Chicharito (United) - Peralta (Santos)

Orozco filling in for normal keeper Ochoa, as noted above
defense has 26-73-37-8 caps
midfield has 85-55-136-9 caps (Aquino was on gold medal olympic team though)
and of course normal forwards with 56 caps b/w them

so 430 caps in starting XI (and 429 with the 10 field players) ... experimental?

i was just going to write are you sweating that 5 teamer because of a -10000 --- i saw England -5.5 and thought that was a crazy line but maybe 1-0 2-0 now...the line actually is -20000 now so i think you are safe but 0-0 HT would probably be an interesting tea time talk.

maybe carroll for the rescue...hahahaaha

ps handicap is still at -4, 4.5....wow

i expected 7-0 myself ... still do (is now 2-0)

there is no worse team than san marino. their all-time qualifying record away is 0-1-22 with 3 goals scored....shutout in 11 straight by a 0/62 goal differential.

i didn't have the HC or would have hit -5.5 for sure
