I've often wondered why players like to play for coaches like this. But it's these kinds of dictator type coaches with big egos and shitty personalities that seem to have the most success. You should know this as well as anyone having watched Woody Hayes antics. And chair throwing and player choking Bobby Knight wasn't exactly Mr.Warmth. But between those two they won a lot of championships. For some reason players still like to play for these types of coaches. I think maybe the better chance of winning a championship means more to them than the coach they are playing for.i am not sold on harbaugh being so great tbh.. take andrew luck away from stanford and they are what we saw this year, also look at sf this year.. i think his style of coaching gets warn out fast, he is a dictator and beats his teams in to the ground.. my biggest wonder is what and the hell they do if he says no? their recruiting ship has sunk and they had little talent to begin with..
My boy Pete Carroll did it first. People laughed at me when PC took the SC job. Everyone thought he was a washout in the NFL. What they forgot was that it got 3 NFL teams into the playoffs in his limited time. Plus he was a top notch DC before being a HC. But look how successful he was at SC and then look at what he's doing now in the NFL.How many coaches can take an NFL team to the brink of a championship in this day and age like Harbaugh has? This guy can coach.
most of these coaches have clauses in their contract that they have to be top 1-3 in salary. So yes, if this is in fact legit, you'll see a bunch of guys get bumps. I forgot which coach it was a few years back that got a raise and it triggered a chain reaction (Saban, Stoops, Chip Kelly, etc)does this trigger a higher market value for other coaches?
I would say yes....Just my opinion.
Just think Nick Saban with 3 rings making less money then someone else...LOL
A guy like Urban Meyer is making something like 4.5 million..
When one looks at how much money a major college football program brings to a school the offer isn't rediculous. Take into account Michigan has been sucking hind tit lately and it only makes sense they'd want one of their own at the helm. I'm sure the alumni and the brass in charge are definitely all for Harbaugh given this type of offer.
Is he worth it??? Hell no but to Michigan he is...He is definitely better then the clown they had mascarading on the sidelines the last few years as a major college football coach because Hoke is SHIT and his teams were prepared like shit and they played like shit. Harbaugh is a home boy and ten steps up from Hoke
Michigan big time program, used to winning, bringing in big time money needs a major change because the last few years they have looked bad...

If Harbaugh could turn around the floundering Oakland Raiders think of how much he could be worth to that organization? The Raiders have one of the lowest values right now, if they could start winning and get a new stadium it could boost their value several hundred million $. Just think about all those Raiders jerseys that have been collecting dust in closets just waiting to come out of the wood work.
Lets not forget the job he did at San Diego before he arrived at Stanford, 3 years there with the last 2 going 11-1 and winning championships. This guy wins wherever he goes.
The "without Andrew Luck he's nothing" argument borders on stupidity. Actually, it crossed the border and is utterly stupid. You can say that about any number of coaches. BTW, he didn't beat USC as a 41 pt dog with Andrew Luck. Stanford was awful before he arrived, and as we all know turned them completely around.
He goes to SF, and turns that team around with the same players that the previous coach couldn't win with. He has a group of assistants that he trusts and all buy into the same program. Continuity is key.
He emphasizes a style of football that would make Michigan fans very happy. A power running team with a physical defense, and of course will have a QB able to throw the ball. As for recruiting, you don't think kids will want to play for this coach? A coach who has molded a Heisman caliber QB, who has taken teams to the Super Bowl, who has completely changed the culture of losing teams??
His fiery demeanor works better with younger people, and after 3-4 years his roster turns over, so no worry about player burnout.
Michigan is big time college football, a premier program. These types of programs shouldn't be coached by the Brady Hokes of the world, they need coaches with stature, and Harbaugh fits the bill. Former Wolverine, solid NFL QB, a proven winner on all levels.
