Hate to beat a dead horse but in this case the servers lost money. At Four Seasons they tip out automatically to bussers runners wine stewards and mangers at percentages off the sales assuming 15% tips average. So even the 100 was way negative. Also, typically a vip is supposed to tip the maitre D for getting everyone to drop everything and getting the best table and service for the vip. That was me.
Granted the servers actually get 18 to 21 % per year so unless jordan comes in often they are okay.
Half the tab as a tip, seems about called for ( in this case), not much at all to the celeb....not life changing to the waitstaff. but if you're extending hours... ? for the celeb, they should tip decent, make it worthwhile to the people involved.
I kind of know to tip about 18%, to be welcome again, I'm usually around 16-17%, round it to nearest dollar...more on a smaller check ( like breakfast), or a beer at a bar ($1).
I tip averagely, no way I'd stiff if the NBA signed me.
I do what I can, feel welcome toking 17% or so, esp. at Mexican restaurants.Waitstaff seems satisfied with that.
Tipping is out of control !
What If I'm some high profile MLB player, like say A-Rod, as A - Rod, I take some rookie out to lunch, we somehow run up $50 for Lunch, As A-Rod, I leave $70 total, a 40% tip... am I turd for tipping 40 % ?
