Michael Jordan’s stock keeps soaring.

With the massively popular series, “The Last Dance,” bringing renewed focus to the basketball icon’s career, a pair of autographed game-worn sneakers from Jordan’s 1984-85 rookie season were sold on Sunday for a record $560,000, bringing in about four times as much money as Sotheby’s anticipated.

The previous all-time sales record of $437,500 came last summer on a pair of Nike’s original prototype running shoes. Both pairs of shoes were owned by collected Jordy Geller. The buyer of the “Air Jordan 1s” has not yet been disclosed.

Geller, who bought Jordan’s sneakers in 2012, said the attention generated by “The Last Dance” — roughly six million viewers per episode — led him to put the legend’s shoes up for sale. The highest price previously spent on a pair of game-used sneakers of Jordan’s came three years ago, when a pair of his shoes from the 1984 Olympics were sold for $190,373. The “Air Jordans XII’s” from the 1997 NBA Finals “Flu Game” were sold for $104,765 in 2013.

“Jordy always has a great sense of timing for these things,” Brahm Wachter of Sotheby’s said, according to the Action Network. “We are thrilled with the price. It just speaks to Michael Jordan’s incredible legacy and people recognizing him as the greatest athlete to ever play.”

Fuck, Jordan. Now this is a sneaker and you don't have to take out a second mortgage to buy a pair.

Investment wise, I don't see this as a good buy. 50 years from now, it will be so what ?

An old pair of sneakers from a long ago NBA player that was one of the best.

There are better things than that to buy

I don't see the collector value, unless you're Chumlee !

I'd call that kind of kinky, actually !

I wouldn't want his old sneakers, for free !

The market for this has to be limited, to a high degree, who collects sneakers from old athletes, anyway ?

I would throw it into the dumpster, except thatI know some fool will buy it,for big money.

Speaking of sneakers he should have been bitch slapped for endorsing $200 sneakers.
BTW "Republicans buy shoes too" ...that statement, do people not understand what he was saying?

You don't seem to understand. Think of the context of his statement. I don't care if athletes express their opinions. It is whether what they are saying is dumb or not. And when they choose to express that opinion. No need to make political statements in a press conference after a game but be outspoken to me is fine. But what was he saying when he said that? It isn't hard to understand where he leans. And he can believe what he wants but if you lean right/conservative I fail to see why this is some great statement. BTW he was also saying money is my god. I don't care about making a difference and a change....just pay me. I don't respect that at all. He went out of his way to shut his mouth for money. Can't respect that

Of course I understand what he meant . He is obviously a dem. So what , at least he never crammed that down our throat . He probably said that after being asked the same question 50 times . Saying you a dem after being asked that probably a thousand times does not make him a political activist .

What he probably should have said was repubs and Dems both buy his shoes rather then leave that out .

But still, judging by the way he has been his entire famous life I think he deserves a pass for that omission .

And I’m far from a MJ lover . I think most regular readers on this forum can vouch for that .

MJ or any other athletes job is not to tell you who to vote for .

So I don’t understand any of your he did not care about making a difference part .

Maybe he realized that it’s not his job to influence people politically . And for that I respect him .

On the other hand you got lebron being very vocal about politics .

This my be the first I have ever said I prefer MJ over LJ but on this subject MJ wins
