It’s almost too easy to fade the Angels. They’ve had exactly one profitable season since they last made the playoffs in 2014, and that was in 2017 when they finished 2.53 units in the black. It’s nice having two MVPs in Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, but with great power comes even greater expectations.
The Marlins have been a laughing stock pretty much since they won their second World Series back in 2003. Yes, the Marlins won the World Series. Twice. But they don’t have the same burden of expectations as Anaheim, and they should at least see some positive regression this year after going 67-95 (minus-17.80 units) in 2021 with a Pythagorean record of 71-91.
