The Mega Millions Jackpot surged to $862 million for Friday's drawing, after no single ticket won the jackpot on Tuesday, the lottery said.
The jackpot prize has a cash value of $392.1 million, which can be offered as a one-time lump sum payment, or an immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments.
The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won at $810 million in Texas on Sept. 10.
The total of $862 million is the seventh-largest prize in Mega Millions history. The largest Mega Millions prize ever won was $1.6 billion won on August 2023.
The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350, according to Mega Millions.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets are $2 for one play.

Think about this…. if you take a lump sum payment you are allowing the lottery to earn interest on the money held in escrow for the annual payment. The annual payment is not a good option unless you’re very young.

862-392 =470 the Lottery is the big winner. Believe it or not the lottery doesn’t have 862 million to pay you now all they have is 392 million and they will earn the interest to pay you in installments with the interest of say 4% probably more so…. if you do the same and invest you can live off the interest for 29 years. All you do is live your normal life the 1st year how you have before winning and every year from the date of winning you’ll pay yourself instead of waiting for the Lottery to send you a check. Phew… if you don’t win say a prayer and Thank God he didn’t allow Kamala to win!
