Confirming an exclusive WorldNetDaily story, various media today are reporting an intelligence source gave U.S. officials detailed information about planned al-Qaida attacks – including that terrorists planned to use explosives on Air France flights – leading to the raising of the nation's alert level from yellow to orange prior to the holiday season.

As WorldNetDaily reported Jan. 4, the detailed intelligence included reports of the terror network planning a Sept. 11-style al-Qaida plot to hijack several planes simultaneously and crash them into U.S. targets.

WND also reported other potential targets included the Valdez oil terminal in Alaska, closed as a precautionary measure, and New York and Los Angeles tourist sites. British Airways, Air France and Mexico's national carrier, AeroMexico, were the airlines to be used by the terrorists.

Fox News reports the pre-holidays intelligence included specific information al-Qaida planned to use explosives on two Air France flights between Paris and Los Angeles on Christmas Day or New Year's Eve. Six Air France flights subsequently were canceled.

Further confirming the WND story, USA Today reported the source provided intelligence pointing to potential threats to two more Air France flights and an AeroMexico flight. Las Vegas reportedly was targeted for a Dec. 31 attack.

"I know we have a lot of sources and technology that is very in-depth and very capable of picking up a lot of info most anywhere in the world and sharing that info with people," Rep. Michael "Mac" Collins, R-Ga., and member of the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, told Fox News.

"I think this is just another example of how much we've advanced in our intelligence community in the past three years."

Could you imagine if this had happen???? The Libs would have been ripping Bush a new but one......But where are they when it comes to thanking him, and the US government for protecting them.....No where.

KMAN,

That's great news and I applaud Bush, his administration and the intelligence community for ferreting (sp?) this out. Now, if only Ashcroft would allow us to look into the gun purchase records of suspected terrorists instead of blindly following the mantra of 2nd Amendment Rights and hypocritically claiming to be doing everything to stop terrorism, I'd feel a lot better.

Btw, you do remember Ashcroft lost an election to a dead guy, right?

eltonio - I didn't know that the worldnewsdaily was liberal. I really don't care who posts what article, I just like to post articles that the mainstream media fails to publish.
