Now that the NFL Picks season is over we move on to 2012 Final Four Picks and NBA Picks. The Boston Celtics are 13-5 since the All-Star break and have pulled into a tie for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. The Minnesota Timberwolves are 4-8 over their last 12 NBA Picks games and are struggling to stay on the fringes of the race in the West. Kevin Love has put the Timberwolves on his back lately, averaging 33.7 points and 15.5 rebounds over the past six 2012 NBA Picks games, as they continues to lose players to injury.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, CS New England (Celtics), FS North (Timberwolves)

ABOUT THE CELTICS (28-22): Boston has a tendency to get big leads and then allow teams back into it, although it has been able to pull through at the end recently. After building big leads and holding off Washington and Charlotte, the Celtics held an 18-point third-quarter lead Wednesday only to have the Utah Jazz come back to tie it at the beginning of the fourth. They were able to pull out a 94-82 2012 MLB Odds win. Boston is tied with Philadelphia for first place in the Atlantic and fourth in the East, but the 76ers own the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Celtics’ recent surge has been built on defense and a balanced offense, with Rajon Rondo reaching double figures in assists in 11 straight 2012 NBA Point Spreads games while spreading it around to several different scorers.

ABOUT THE TIMBERWOLVES (25-27): In direct contrast to the balance that Boston enjoys is Minnesota, which is leaning heavily on Love. The All-Star forward went for 40 points and 19 rebounds in a win at Charlotte on Wednesday, outscoring the other four members of the starting five combined. The Timberwolves are without Ricky Rubio (knee), Nikola Pekovic (ankle), J.J. Barea (thigh) and Michael Beasley (toe). Pekovic, Barea and Beasley could return as early as Friday, easing some of the burden on Love. Minnesota is 3½ 2012 NBA Basketball Picks games behind the Houston Rockets in eight place in the West.

BUZZER BEATERS: 2012 Kentucky Derby Preview

1. Love has struggled to 10.5 points on 36.4 percent shooting in four career games against the Celtics.

2. The Timberwolves, who rank near the top in the NBA in rebounding, should have the advantage over league-worst Boston in the category.

3. The Celtics have taken nine straight in the series.
