Not sure he is better than Cassel, but I would like to see him get a shot.

So, you're saying if the Patriots were offered an option of a #1-3 pick in this year's NFL draft or the #10 pick they would in fact take the #10 instead?

I find that very hard to believe.

are you Al Davis?

The Pats would trade down from the top 3 picks and pick up extra 2nd and 3rd rounders

I'm saying if they had the 1st, 2nd or 3rd pick I find it hard to believe they wouldn't want the pick.

what's the #3 pick get, 5 years and 50 million ballpark. 2nd round pick is going to get 5 years 5 or 6 million dollar ballpark. Top 5 pick is no guaranteed sure thing, Patriots would rather trust their scouting department to find those diamonds in the rough and then be able to spend their money in free agency.

Outside of the first 15 to 20 picks there is no greater value to an NFL team than a players rookie contract. For example, Maurice Jones-Drew is entering into the final year of his rookie contract at $535,000.

If you don't believe it, that is your problem.

Think it through.

You will see that NO TEAM will trade up to the top three picks. Miami tried last year and nobody took the bait.

The ONLY thing the top picks really were good for was a franchise QB... Until Ryan Leaf, michael vick, tim couch and akili smith came along.

You could end up paying stafford 50% more that what julius peppers will make next season. Why would the Pats want that?

I'm not saying to trade up. I'm saying if they had it to begin with it wouldn't be traded. I know Brady is great and all Pats fans have hardons for him (I like him also) but he is coming off a major major surgery and we have no idea what will happen. If they had either 1,2 or 3 I'd take a QB.

No need to take a QB.They have Kevin O'Connell as a back up that they drafted last year in the 3rd round who they absolutley love.
Brady is only 31 years old and will come back from the injury. He's been running and passing for about two months now.Remember this injury happened in the first week of Sept. 6 months ago.

I realize how old he is and it is Tom Brady but the uncertainty must be in the back of your mind.

I fear the day that Belichick retires- not the day Brady retires.

BB is the guy who put the system in place. Brady is a huge part of it, but he is only a part.
