Matrix Thurs: $42 mil

Early rumors have Matrix: Reloaded coming in at around $42 million for Thursday, which is utterly phenomenal considering the rating and weekday placement. There is some thought that Wednesday's $10 million sneaks have been added in, but even so, $32 million is still just unbelievable.

I'm now positive the film would have EASILY broken $100 million for the three-day weekend, but Wed/Thurs hurts those chances a lot. I'll be counting on the Matrix nuts to come in for repeat viewings over the weekend. It appears that the "R" rating is doing little damage to receipts, which bodes well for those of us who like more adult-themed fare.

Should be an interesting weekend.

It might. It might also putter out by Sunday a bit with the top-heavy wed-thursday gross. Could be close.

I'm hoping so. I have a small play on the under 85mil at Bodog, and regular sized plays on the UNDER 135 mil for the four day, and UNDER 96 mil in the three day. If it comes in under 85 mil, I will ALL of those bets. By the way, on Lakerfan's advice, I also played the OVER 29 mil on the Thursday total. Thanks, man.
