and if he got a touchdown on the pass play you would still fire him?

I was sitting on my couch and the minute he stepped back to pass I was screaming "no." It was a terrible, terrible decision no matter what the outcome was.

Jesus with the Fluke play! If you want to go that route Pats were SUPER lucky that 4 out of 5 of Seattle's vaunted secondary were hurt! And the comeback began once Avril left the game with a concussion. No D-line depth Bennett had no help and ran out of gas! Again Morons running the Seahawks; Chancellor gets hurt on the Friday before the Super Bowl, idiots! Should just be doing walkthroughs and game film not anything to tire or hurt players 2 days before the Super Bowl!

well, they didn't want to leave the Patriots with any time on the clock either, since the Pats would only need a FG to tie it. So they certainly didn't want to score with 1 minute left

it was working out ideally from the Seahawk perspective. Enough time to use all three downs (if they passed once) and use up all the clock. win win

nobody expected a pass from a distance that wasn't intercepted all year in the entire league to be intercepted in that spot

They only got 29 yrds with a minute left in 2012. I doubt the Hawks were worried about Pats going the other way, they were in such confusion that last minute. The last thing on their minds was the Pats going the other way. And that pass that wasn't intercepted in that spot all year wasn't thrown by someone under 5'11 all year either.

However banged up they may have been, injuries are part of the game. You think having GRONK may have helped the Pats in 2011, 2012, 2013? Or having Brady not get hurt vs SD in '07? etc etc

Cmon that play was a fluke play. injuries happen all the time, receptions like that do not happen all the time.

Ha. Three pages and 65 posts and crooked accountants and other bright guys on here wonder how low journalism can go? Plenty of interest in this topic apparently bright boys. Must be a story worth reporting if everyone is commenting on it.

Yeah they do but i've never seen 80% of a secondary injured (best ever) and I've never ever heard of a player getting hurt TWO DAYS before the big game! Also fluke/luck part of the game too! Evans, Cundiff, or better yet how many times has Kasay kicked the ball out of bounds! That was a fluke play too.

24 for 102

that's good, that's far far far from great

and Lynch was already stuffed twice on third and short in that game. (had to look it up)

the argument he was running through the Pats is mythology

third and two early
third and one late

I mean, stats don't really lie. Maybe I'm wrong.

24 attempts, 102 yards and 1 TD. I'm not good at math but that's 4.25 YPC.

He also caught one pass for 31 yards.

And I hear you but you can't say had they won it was a gift. They played a great game.

I wasn't saying if they won it would've been a gift, just that play was lucky. Their victory would've been more improbable because of that play than NEs victory because an INT was.

I was responding to Vitts assertion the Pats were given the game. You can't say that either.

they don't lie, and that's good, but it's not great

throw in being stuffed twice already in that very game, and the fact that Lynch scored once in five attempts from the one during the season, and the numbers clearly suggest it was not an automatic (which is even more mythology)

I've made my case, which is to say the situation was fluid and not some simpleton black and white

good and smart people can and do disagree, I'm moving on

I'm a Seahawks fan. Have been for ages. I can sit here and tell you Brady, Edelman and they all played great. I take nothing away from the Pats that day.

That's the difference between NE fans and all other fans.

It's exactly what you said in post 43.

"If Seattle won the game, now THAT would've been a gift."

Well maybe I didn't word it right but what I meant was that play was a gift and it would've been a huge part of them winning, just like the Tyree catch and a thousand other games where stuff way outside of the norm happens. It was in response to post #42 saying NE got a gift. Like as in "Y'all are saying NE got a gift? What if Seattle won, that catch was way crazier"

Since they lost, the improbability of the play is moot but it was a lot crazier than a team passing and throwing an INT at the 1. It would've gone down as more improbable than the Tyree catch.

i disagree

worst decision ever only because of the outcome

the only people that matter are the people who are willing to challenge conservative ideas to bring innovation to the table. you can never be great if you are afraid of failure.

Very topical with the Steve Jobs movie coming out soon HK.

Unfortunately I don't think that was the time to reinvent the wheel and innovate!

I have to be honest with you, I have no idea what you're talking about now

just more trumped up mythology, especially since I didn't dis the Hawks at all

I've done nothing more than to try and explain why it's not black and white, why it's not the worst call in the history of sports, and now I'm doing such because I'm part of a bad fan base. I'm unreasonable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my god, why

Willie "STFU", leave it be

thank you, great advice buddy

And what NE fan took anything away from the Giants 2 Superbowl defeats of the Pats??
Not a single one I know......Everybody says the Giants should have won those games, NE didn't make the plays they needed to.
Just like Seattle didn't make the plays they needed to. It was close but they fell short. End of story.
