Ok, bottom line Bush would have won on votes as is, if they had gone back to voter intent however on the mismarked ballots which was what had been the law up to that point gore would have won, so who knows? The supreme court decision however to end the recount and not allow voter intent to stand and the subsequent clause stating the decision was a one time thing not to carry precedence in the future was very much a farce

How do you know what voter intent was on a ballot that the voter didn't properly punch?

A butterfly ballot created by the Florida Dem party I might add...they did it that way on purpose.

And it bit them in the ass..boo hoo.

because of the way the ballots were made there were ways to determine voter intent despite the miss punch's. fine they florida dem party screwed up, not really relevent. The point is the supreme court decision was a farce, which makes that situation very different from the obama blowout

So it's Bush's fault that democrats starting making a push while Clinton was in office that everybody should be able to have a home, no matter what their income, and they used government agencies to be a back stop (Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae). Home values went down, the mortgages became virtually worthless. And now that's Bush's fault. I give up, you don't understand this stuff, and I don't have the time to educate you. Good luck with your restaurant.

Both parties are to blame. Bush actually pushed for plans to subsidize down payments for people who couldn't afford them and to help people with bad credit get into homes.

I remember the market skyrocketing the day after Ronnie Raygun was elected. That was a warm memory. Now I have a warm memory of the market tanking the day after Barack was elected because my stock (SKF) went up 16% today.

think it could have more to do with dems not getting a fillibuster proof majority in senate

granted job stuff today was a bad omen to jobs report on friday

markets IMO would like dems to have all the power they need for corporate welfare, bailouts, saving pensions, giving GM a loan, stimulus packages etc.....

to attempt to reflate our problems away

well they won't get rid of the problems

but will make the market numbers go up as we continue to pay more for stuff we need

I know you're not the same guy.

But you aspire to be so, without being so causticas he and as much an a$$wipe on civil liberties as is he.

Next trip through Florida, dinner's on me and we'll take a photo if you can stand being publicly outed next to a guy with a blue Rayhawk.

Did I whine. Just because you don't have a pot to piss in. You have to elect some clown to make sure nobody does. How does that make your life better. Nice knowledge of how the economy works, bud.

Those grapes tastes sour don't they now.

All that matters is where we are in 2012. My bet is that we will be better off. We'll see.

The markets will rebound from their lows, we will have survived the credit crisis and since the Iraqi war has been won, the troops are coming home.

The next POTUS is going to benefit from this, actually get credit for all things good, no matter who that person is. Obama is leading a charmed life.

Even Jimmy Carter would look good in 2012.

Having said that, there is one caveat, Government has to stay out of the way. If massive tax increases are implemented on business and success, the economic rebound will be less certain and certainly slower.

Willie, my thinking is Obama will not even be able to address his own agenda until his 2nd term. If there is one. First four years will be spent cleaning the current mess up. And to do it right, he will have to make some tough calls. Will probably piss a lot of people off, and he should if he wants to fix the economy.

The tough decisions he needs to make pertain to curtailing spending, eliminating waste, getting rid of bad public policy and ending corruption.

I don't see any of that happening.

As a consolation prize, I'll take not fucking up business. This is possible.

a prez any prez "fixing" the economy :missingte:missingte:missingte:missingte:missingte:missingte:missingte:missingte:missingte

go to any super commie/socialistic country or dictatorship where the head guy is heavy handed and very involved in economy (russia, venezula, zimbabwe, iran, north korea to name a few) and tell me how you enjoy living there

the economy can only be fixed by you and me (well you're outside the US) individuals participating in the free markets if you want america to remain a great nation

Down 700 pts. in 2 days after election. Really the world is turning upside down when the stock market is dreading an Obama administration while on the other hand almost the entire Kenyan populace is indulging in almost unimaginal joy, at the prospect of a huge Kenyan immigration influx to the US foaming over the prospect of getting in on the our new welfare state!

The welfare cases were having celebratory gun fire in Detroit just like they do on new years eve every year.. I was thinking just because Americans were stupid enough to elect a Kenyan president doesn't mean we are now Kenya.. I may have spoken to soon.

For anyone who does not understand why the stock market is crashing right back down go read up on capital gains tax and compare notes with Obama's plan.. Investment in America will fall to a level that has never been seen.
