The former Cubs first baseman and broadcaster for Marquee is getting brutalized in Chicago for calling his ex-wife a “dingbat.” Not at a Thom Brennaman level, but the media consensus seems to be that he’ll get fired over it.

I honestly haven’t heard or used that word in years and had to look it up, for fear that it had some arcane, diabolical meaning. But no. It means “stupid person.”

Grace may have his issues as a broadcaster, but am I missing something with the dingbat controversy? I just don’t get it.

"dingbat"

definition: airhead; ditzy person; dumb person

Sentence usage:

Cancel culture liberals are all dingbats.

Grace used to tell the story that he and teammates would have to find a "slumpbuster" when they were not hitting well. He explained that was the ugliest woman he could find to take back to his room to pound. Wonder how that would go over today?

We have certain demographics who's career choice is the be offended

And we have an dangerous media who thinks it's their job to create anger and get people fired, they're just vile worthless human beings

Let's hope the pendulum starts to swing back towards a reasonable and intelligent mankind, because I'm not sure how much more mean spirited ignorance I can tolerate

Hung out with Mark Grace once back in the late 90's in Mesa, Arizona. He threw a small party at the golf course I was working at and some of us staff were invited. He was screwing the bar cart girl Tonya at that time.

These stories are great. mine rated G

He flew back to Peoria IL my hometown, after knocking in a day game winner to sign autographs at a single A squad farm team at the time. Hotter then hell out mid summer he was sweating his off signing and taking pictures , spoke polite and had manners to all the families with kids. Seemed like a humble guy.

Saw him at the Rio Hotel in Vegas about 12 years ago. It was after a promotion event or something and he was talking to some fans in the casino. I just remember him being super nice to everyone
