You know what.........seeing what happened to Peyton this weekend was actually a bit painful to watch. Sorta like witnessing all my Dolphin late December fades or an early playoff exit, however it did raise a few questions and comparisons between Marino and Manning. Is Peyton just another Dan (all numbers and no rings) or will Peyton win the big game in his career. Both great quarterbacks, on what I would call "good" teams, meaning Miami NEVER had a running game, and the Colts with an adaquate defense. We all know that most superbowls won are won by the better "team". It was fun to watch Peyton sling his way into the record books this year and I'm sure he will be back at it soon. HOWEVER........not only did he come up short in the playoffs, he also came up short in achieving the greatest TD passing record in a season. YES, he did break it for a "regular" season............but for an "entire" season, he came up a few short!
Marino had 48 during the regular season and 7 in the playoffs for a total of 55
Manning had 49 during the regular season...........but only 4 in the playoffs for a total of 53. Funny how no one has brought this up, but being the avid Dolphin fan I am, I had to let Dan the Man get his props for the greatest TD passing "season" ever by a quarterback. Will this record last.......who knows, but unless the Colts get home field throughout the playoffs one of these years.............I would have to say yes!
:toast: here's to ya Dan!
