One week from Sunday, the brackets come out so it is time to round up the troops to play in The Commish's March Madness Pool.
Here is how the pool works:
The NCAA March Madness Brackets will be set on Sunday March 12th.
First Round Games begin on Thursday March 16th (we ignore the play-in game on Tuesday March 14th).
On Sunday night March 12th; I will send out the link to a website where you will make your picks in all games leading up to the Finals on April 3rd.
You pick all the winners and the point total for the Final Game as the tiebreaker.
The website sends me your picks so that I do not have to enter them manually. I do not even see who you have picked.
Winning picks are scored as follows:
1st round- 1 point each (possible 32 pts)
2nd round- 2 points each (possible 32 pts)
3rd round (Sweet 16) - 4 points each (possible 32 pts)
4th round (Elite 8) - 8 points each (possible 32 pts)
5th round (Semi-Finals) - 12 points each (possible 24)
6th round (The Finals) - 16 points
Total possible points are 168.
I will be managing the March Madness Pool through Turbo Tourney which provides a terrific group of reports that I will publish after each round.
You will have a lot of updates where you will see how you are doing and how many possible points you have,
When the tournament comes down to the Final Four, I will provide the scenarios so you will see what your chances are for winning.
The entry fee for the March Madness Pool is $20 per entry.
Payout will be as follows:
1st- 60%
2nd- 30%
3rd- 10%
Last year there were 239 entries so 1st place paid over $2800 with second receiving over $1400.
All entry fees received go to the prizes with the exception of about $30 which pays for the mailing of checks to the winners and the Turbo Tourney Software.
The Commish does not keep any of the funds and pays for his own entries!
Feel free to invite your friends, family, enemies, neighbors and co-workers to play.
You can have multiple entries, as many as you want; at $20 each.
The more that play, the larger the prizes!!
The deadline for entries will be
