Mansion is offering Middlesborough +1.5, -104 against Manchester United.

Didn't hedge Chelsea but I think I will for this play.

i don't know squat about soccer...

but with Rooney out and Chelsea already wrapping up the title, do Man Utd have any incentive to play their best players and give 100%?

is there any incentive for finishing 2 or 3? don't they both get automatic bids for the Champions League tournament next year? how does it work?

but in the current Champions League tournament Chelsea, ManUtd and Arsenal were all in the competition...

so at least the top 3 teams make it to the CL, right? i'm curious how that works.

anyway, it's a great promotion from Mansion. if i remember correctly, 2 times so far the "team of the week" has won, netting us each a free $150 approx. (for us american bettors)

The top two teams go directly into the Champions League group stage. The third and fourth place team go to the third qualifying round, where they play a 2 legged qualifier where the winner advances to the group stage. So 2nd place essentially gets a double bye compared to 3rd, so the difference is fairly significant.

One exception will be if Arsenal wins the Champions League (they're in the final against Barcelona), they go directly to the group stage as holders and will take the spot of the 4th place team, who will go to the UEFA Cup instead.

This is a very important game for ManU as Liverpool could overtake them next week. Falling to 3rd place could mean that ManU is not playing CL at all next season as they had to play against another Team and with a loss they are out. And we have seen it so often how 3rd place Teams failed to qualify against much weaker Teams. And today you can't speak of weak teams as you can get with bad luck a good Team from France, Netherlands or Portugal.
